This cottage oozes style, features original artwork and contemporary decor. The property has been furnished with excellent taste and much care, thought and attention to detail ensured it was a haven for total relaxation. Luxury bedding from The White Company was a real bonus! the cottage is only yards from two good eateries which catered for all in our family from fish lovers to home made steak pies. The beach is only 300 yards or so from the cottage, and was wonderful for rock pooling with the children. I would recommend this wonderful cottage to all - very clean and even a welcome pack on arrival! We've already booked a return visit.

If you need a fantastic base then this cottage will not dissapoint we are currently enjoying our second stay here last year we visited in August this year Septembre. Really spaciouse very clean and with all you could ask for to cook and live well for a week or a few days. The cottage has its own enclosed garden, fab for dogs, use of tennis court and pavilion. The grounds are fab with a large grassed area leading down to the river. The owners are just next door but the size of the house means that you feel no where near. The owners seem to bend over backwards to let you know all the inside knowledge on walks and great places to hang out. They also have mastered the art of being there when needed but show a true understanding of providing guests with privacy and space. Fantastic location for National Park, coast and brilliant local walking, We Love it and think others will to.

We spent a week here in October 2012 and I would recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday in a beautiful location. We used the cottage as a base for exploring Hadrian's Wall and the North Pennines and it was lovely to come home at night to such a cosy cottage. I can't think of anything negative to say about Merit Hall, except to be aware there is a stream which runs through the property which would make it unsuitable for young children.

My husband and I have just had a week a this wonderful little really well equipped and comfortable cottage. We would like to recommend it to anyone who is thinking of staying in this area and dont want to pay hotel prices. There is everthing you would need to have a very comfortable and enjoyable break. The owners are very approachable too

Very well equipped property: - quality beds, linen, and towels, plus including the sort of minor items it is easy to forget are needed and many holiday lets omit(eg washing up liquid, salt/pepper). Generous welcome pack provided, plus gift of eggs from owners' chickens on departure.
