Sandridge Barton, Stoke Gabriel, Devon, TQ9 6RL

Description of the self catering

Sandridge Barton holiday cottage near Stoke Gabriel is a stunning, luxury holiday cottage with a range of facilities that set it apart from other holiday cottages in Stoke Gabriel. Sandridge Barton has its own indoor swimming pool which is large and luxurious, its own modern snooker room and a stunning kitchen as well as a selection of reception rooms offering vast amounts of space, all set within a luxury holiday home near Stoke Gabriel with the most amazing views.

Sandridge Barton is located a quarter of a mile down a private drive that leads to the south-facing, original Georgian house with extensions. It looks over its enclosed garden (table/chairs, barbecue) with stream (unfenced, children beware), down to three ponds and partly wooded valley leading to the wide estuary of the river Dart.

It is a fine view; all the fields and woods that run to the river are part of the estate, excellent for bird life (shelduck on the ponds, egrets nest on the estuary). Behind the main house of Sandridge Barton are former barns; the nearest barn is now a large estate office (phone, office available for use by arrangement, table tennis), leading to the excellent snooker room (full-sized table, table football).

You are welcome to walk the estate, adhering to the country code - some beech and oak woods (bluebells). The house - which has large rooms, filled with light - is a spacious, comfortable home.Ground floor: flagstone-floored entrance hall off which an elegant drawing room (comfortable seating for 8) with white marble open fireplace, double French windows leading to the terrace overlooking the garden, much comfort.

Sitting room with comfy seating for 6, TV/Sky/DVD/video and 5 steps up (lockable doors) to the swimming pool. Large L-shaped dining/snug/fitted kitchen with table comfortably seating 8 (10 chairs), and snug area with open fireplace, flagstoned floor, soft sofas, TV/DVD/video and double doors to patio. Excellent, well-equipped kitchen with wood floor, dishwasher, microwave, 4-door Aga, cooker, freezer, larder fridge, island with 2-ring ceramic hob. Utility room (fridge-freezer, washing machine, tumble drier). Loo.

Lower floor: from the hall, stairs down to a formal dining room seating 10 with 2 steps to bar area and French windows to terrace; small kitchenette (cooker with induction hob, sink, kettle, coffee maker) with stairs up to main kitchen. From the utility room, stairs (stairgate) down to a more basic annexe with double bed, TV, en suite bathroom (suite plus hand-shower) and door to the kitchenette; door to garden.

Upstairs, five more bedrooms: Spacious master double (6' sleigh bed) looking to the river with TV/DVD and en suite bathroom (suite plus hand-shower, large power-shower, separate loo). From the bathroom, cast iron spiral stairs down to the swimming pool, a double facing the river, twin facing the river, a further twin. Bathroom (suite plus hand-shower) and shower-room (suite).

The indoor heated swimming pool is magnificent, built to fit the Georgian style of the house - columns, animal murals, a large glass domed ceiling over the mosaic-lined pool (30' x 15' x 4'9" deep), two large French windows leading to the terrace overlooking the valley, so plenty of lounging space. Changing room (towels provided) with loo, and a shower. No pets permitted in the house; kennels available.

Lovely holiday with family ranging from 12 months old to 77 years young and each and everyone of us enjoyed our stay.

The children made full use of the swimming pool and games room.

Enough room for anyone to escape if they wanted to.

Everything needed in the kitchen was at hand.

Will certainly return for our next family celebration!

What a fabulous house for a few friends who wanted excellent surroundings and a big house for our own space. Lots of room, the pool was fantastic, our daughter loved it, the games room was fun. Plenty of kitchen bits for you to cook for many and enjoy a buck's fizz breakfast! Fantastic views and walks and so close to lots of towns and things to do. Love this place so highly recommend x

Christmas holiday for 10 adults, 3 children and 2 hounds. The self contained suite at lower ground was perfect for the couple with the 2 hounds with its' door direct to the outside areas. The extra kitchen down there was very useful, and used mainly as a vegan cooking area. The pool is exceptional, especially for a quiet float after dark to stargaze through the glass roof. The spiral staircase from the main bedroom down to the pool would be useful to some, although we kept access locked off to avoid any inquisitive little monsters going exploring. The various

We have just come back from a family holiday at this house. It is certainly very impressive. Facilities extremely good although the furnishing is beginning to show signs of wear and tear. Swimming pool is fantastic and is regularly maintained, but the flagstones are very slippery when wet, so take extreme care. Otherwise there is all you could want at this house to keep everyone amused, from the pool to the snooker table and table tennis table to jigsaws, dvd's books, games, cards and children's toys, so even if it rains outside there is still plenty to

We were all thrilled with the accommodation and facilities which this beautiful house offered us. The bedrooms were lovely, the bathrooms good and the living rooms comfortable and beautifully furnished. The kitchen was well equipped with loads of china, cutlery and cooking utensils etc. The gardens and views were glorious and the terrace made the most of them. The crowning glory for me was the warm indoor swimming pool. We used it every day, sometimes twice. The best experience for some of us was lying in the dark pool on a starry night and feeling you were

We have just had a great time - wonderful views, peaceful, but close to amenities in Stoke Gabriel (2 miles), Totnes (5 miles). Paignton (3 miles), such as shops, places of interest and water sports etc. The house had a great pool (indoor and well heated), and terracing overlooking the estuary. The house was so well equipped, with an aga, separate oven and hob and a second kitchen. There was a great TV room and a peaceful lounge as well as a comfortable breakfast room attached to the spacious kitchen - so lots of places to gather together or chill in sma
