Unsurpassed Hospitality, Amenity and Charm
I would not recommend anyone begin a vacation trip at Pilrig House, as any
subsequent accommodations will likely pale in comparison. My daughter and I
recently stayed in the Balfour Apartment, and the rather high expectations we came with, from reading previous guests' comments, were exceeded in every respect. The rooms were bright, airy and impeccably clean; and the countless
amenities included were all of the highest calibre. From kitchen treats to fresh flowers, extensive and quite current DVD library to a carafe of Scotch whiskey, even a pair of binoculars to enjoy the view of the park below our windows -
the degree of thoughtfulness and attention to detail was remarkable.
Deserving special note were the extraordinarily comfortable beds, with top quality linens and towels. But what makes this place really special are the charming and helpful hosts, Debbie and Philip, who went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable.

Wonderful Holiday!
From start to finish this was a wonderful holiday we were met by Debbie on arrival and taken to our apartment -it was spotless and all essential provisions provided i. e. milk, coffee, tea, bottled water etc. The location was superb one mile from the coast and about one and half from the city Both Debbie and Phillip were on hand if needed but were not intrusive and very interesting people to talk to- we cannot honestly say one bad thing about these apartments ad would definitely stay again

Really excellent apartment stay in Edinburgh!
My friend and I stayed in the Garden Apartment of Pilrig House. This was a quiet apartment in an easily accessible and beautiful location. The apartment had everything we would ever want and all in classic style. Very near are shops, a grocery, and bus stops. We discussed our stay and were unable to think of anything we were missing. We plan on using this apartment when we return each year. I do suggest booking far in advance
as this is a much sought after rental.

Cottage Review: In February 2007, we had the unique pleasure of enjoying the extraordinary hospitality of Pilrig House's Debbie and Philip Martin. We are already looking forward to our next visit and will definitely be back at Pilrig House. Being able to enjoy such superlative accommodation in such a splendid city made our first visit to Edinburgh a truly memorable one. The apartment was immaculate and fully equipped - everything and more was at our fingertips and the beautiful city of Edinburgh was just outside our front door. Pilrig's central, albeit quiet location, in a park setting --made for quick and easy access to the surrounding city. We would urge all those looking for accommodation in Edinburgh to contact Pilrig House first - it is a cherished treasure in a remarkable city.

Cottage Review: My wife and I spent three wonderful days in Edinburgh in February. Pilrig House was everything we had been hoping for. A great location led to traveling around the city being a snap. We can't express our appreciation to Philip and Debbie enough for their hospitality. Philip was nice enough to show us around the city upon our arrival. To those reading this who are seriously considering accomidations in Edinburgh; you need to stop and email Debbie and Philip right now. You'll be glad you did.

Cottage Review: Staying here was absolutely grand. The Pilrig House offers the best of modern conveniences but maintains it's old world charm. The best part about staying here is the hospitality. Debbie And Phillip are outgoing, friendly and extraordinarily catering to whatever comes up. We couldn't recommend a better place to spend your vacation in an amazing city.

Cottage Review: My husband and I have just returned from a week's stay at Pilrig House, April 23-30. We must share our enthusiastic comments about this extraordinary guest house and encourage anyone who visits Edinburgh to make this quiet, lovely oasis in the midst of this historic city their "home away from home". Debbie and Philip's gracious hospitality made our 40th wedding anniversary a celebration to remember--a bottle of chilled champagne, a card of well wishes, and fresh roses set the tone of our stay. Upon our arrival Debbie had also purchased food for our evening meal (at our request) and added a special dessert on her own. Debbie and Philip are the tourist's greatest assets; they will help in any way possible. Having an avid interest in history and literature, we found a gold mine in Philip's expertise as a guide to many spots we would not have seen on our own despite our best efforts as seasoned travelers. His anecdotes and knowledge of local lore are incomparable. Make a reservation at the beautiful accommodations of Pilrig House today!

Cottage Review: The apartments are wonderfully comfortable, exquisitely furnished and an absolute delight after a hard day's sightseeing. They are right in beautiful Pilrig Park and are very quiet, but the city centre is only minutes away. But better even than the apartments are your hosts Debbie and Philip - warm, kind, amusing, helpful and a fund of knowledge about what to see and do. Highly, highly recommended.

Cottage Review: When we arrived at our apartment, and opened the door - we were simply awed! A 5-star rating should be given here not only for the best amenities in the Country, but the most friendly, helpful, "give the shirt off their back for you" proprietors . I have stayed in many a hotel and B&B, including Bahama's ATLANTIS HOTEL!! THERE ISN'T EVEN ONE 5- STAR HOTEL WHO CAN BEAT PILGRIG HOUSE. I also want to say that we met not only our "landlords" for the week, but wonderful, caring "friends" for ever. And if God permits, we will return as soon as we are able.

Cottage Review: We stayed in the lovely Balfour apartment, with window seats overlooking Pilrig Park. Each morning I watched patrons of the park walk their dogs while enjoying morning tea and toast with Scottish honey. The apartment was roomy, comfortable, very clean, and well equipped; every detail attended to. Complimentary tea, coffee, chocolates (yummy!), fresh fruit, flowers and organic milk ensured we could begin our stay as though we were at home. Hosts Debbie and Philip leave nothing to chance, and were helpful throughout the week with our questions and needs. Wonderful hosts! The location is serene considering you are in the city, and it is easy to get to area attractions. We truly relaxed upon arrival each evening after our day trips out.

Cottage Review: When we arrived we felt as though we stepped back in time with the beautifully restored Pilrig House situated in Pilrig Park. The apartment met all of our needs and offered many extras to assist with our first visit to Edinburgh. Debbie and Phillip add all of the perfect personal touches to make you feel as though you are their most important guest. It was a perfect stay in a beautiful city!

Cottage Review: Pilrig House is the perfect place to stay - luxurious and spotlessly clean. It has a touch of history you can almost feel. Close enough to the city centre to walk yet in a tranquil parkland setting. Debbie and Philip are wonderful hosts and nothing is too much trouble. We would recommend Pilrig without hesitation.
