Cottage Review:

The Cottage was lovely, very clean on arrival, & easy to access following the instructions. All the appliances worked. The outdoor facilities were good for we enjoyed a couple of evenings in the rest looking out over the wonderful view, with a glass of wine. All the restaurants and pubs were closed, but that didn’t matter as we cooked, ate and drank in the cottage. We were celebrating my special birthday.

It was a pleasure to stay in this lovely cottage. Two toilets and showers/bathroom made it easier as there were 4 adults and a child.

Cosy living room with the electric fire was a nice touch for the colder weather and the nice size dining table was great to sit and chat to those working in the kitchen. Location was great with lovely views from the gardens and easy walking distance to lake/pubs and convenience store. We had a great stay and would highly recommend.

We had a fabulous stay, the area is stunning and the cottage is a 2 minute walk from pubs and shops which is ideal! The cottage itself is spotless and has nice added touches like the belvedere and the snug. Will was a great host as well and can't thank him enough for his help! We can't wait to get back soon

This is a gem of a cottage. A 5 minute walk to Coniston village and a 10 minute walk ( or longer depending on your chosen route) to Coniston Water.

We enjoyed using all of the spaces at Mountain Cottage. The outside table was great for eating and taking in the stunning views. The kids enjoyed the boule and we all took turns to read in the reading room.

The kitchen was well equipped and we all appreciated the second tv in the master bedroom! All of the bedrooms were comfortable.

We loved the whole area and would highly recommend Mountain Cottage.

A very well equipped cottage for our growing family. Perfectly located for Coniston amenities and walks from the doorstep. Great to have the boys on the downstairs room and parents to be a little bit away from them. All the little outdoor areas and games were great for the boys - and got them out from under their parents feet too!

We have always liked the Black Bull pub in Coniston (for food too) but can also recommend The Crown (sports on TV), The Sun & The Ship (off the beaten track - but nice to walk to from the cottage). Pizza's are great. Indian Restaurant is also very good.

Don't expect a shopping metropolis in Consiton - you'll be disappointed. Its a simple village - with easy access to Ambleside (where the shopping is great) - and this means it doesn't attract the same large tourist group in the day, which makes it that little bit more peaceful than it's busier peers.

On arrival we found the cottage clean and tidy and enjoyed looking around and exploring the outside space.

The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed for our 5 night stay, the bathrooms were spacious and the beds comfortable. The owner was very helpful from the point of booking the cottage right through to the end of the holiday when he kindly posted a wallet back to us that had been left behind. The parking is up a steep twisty hill but after a couple of trips out we soon got used to it. The cottage is old and quirky with quite a lot of steps, my parents both in their late eighties had to take care and be sure footed but managed to get through the holiday without tripping or falling over. Would I visit the cottage again? Of course I would, there's nothing to not like about it. Best place to eat is Steam Bistro be sure to book early its a very popular venue.

We loved our stay at Mountain Cottage. The owner could not have been more efficient or helpful before, during & after our holiday. The cottage itself is fantastic with great character. It is comfortable & well equipped although it does lack clothes hanging space in the main bedroom. We cooked meals at the cottage but did try the Fish & Chip shop in the village which we can highly recommend. Our only negative comment would be about the garden. Although beautiful & 'enclosed' we didn't feel confident to allow our dogs off lead. We always supervise but with the best will in the world we were worried that they might quickly push through at several points & drop directly down onto the busy main road below.

Set in a beautiful location Mountain Cottage is an ideal base for both local & further afield walks.

We had a terrific time at Mountain cottage. The location is perfect - a short stroll into the centre of Coniston - and the cottage is really lovely. Inside, it is smart, stylish and very comfortable; outside, the gardens are beautifully designed and impeccably maintained and there are so many little nooks and crannies to explore and different places to sit and watch the world go by. We particularly liked the heated 'Bus Stop' which is the perfect outside/inside place on a cool or rainy day. And, the Belvedere is a cosy retreat if you want some quiet time or just want to sit on the balcony with a glass of wine.

The cottage was beautiful with fantastic gardens and stunning views. Everything we needed was there and it was very clean. The cottage is a very short walk from the village which has plenty eating/drinking places and the lake is also a short walk away. There is only parking space for one car but at the weekend they allow parking at the local school for a small donation. I would definitely recommend staying here

Mountain Cottage is a true memory maker with regards to its location, the view from the balcony, the wonderful garden rooms, the quirky layout and the all-round experience of staying in such a lovely cottage. It's well equipped, a short walk from cosy pubs, a great chippy and Indian, a Spar, a garage, the shores of Coniston Lake and the wonderful Bluebird Cafe. South Lakes Safari Zoo is about half an hour away and is a fab day out for young and old (even our teenagers loved it!). Communication with the owners was efficient, professional and friendly and they attended to a small issue we had promptly and late at night which was most impressive. We'll be back there for sure. We absolutely loved it.

Pretty incredible experience overall of my stay here, perfect location to be a close walk to every aspect of Coniston whilst remaining in a feeling of isolation away from others. Great garden and outside area - even a heated sheltered section which was a nice surprise. Not exaggerating when I say it pretty much ticks everything you could want in a brilliant stay in the lakes. Quirky, clean and modern space. Also perfect for walking up the old man of Coniston, you can also see the lake from the front window. Had a great stay and it is very well managed and is kept great care of, also very useful information guided to us by the owners. Can't really fault any of it and i'm usually pretty critical. Arrived for a long weekend in October and was very lucky with the weather also.

Cottage Review:

We had a lovely stay in a familiar village and cottage having spent many childhood holidays in the exact same cottage. The cottage is very stylish and well thought through. Every comfort was provided as well as everything we needed was there in the kitchen for all our meals in. We walked everywhere from there and never moved the car from arriving to leaving, whether it was to the lakeside, the Old Hall, the village or up the Old Man. My daughter even had a wonderful running route hardly ever going on the main road! The garden is lovely but we didn’t in fact use it as we were out so much and when at home it rained. It would be lovely to spend more time there. So overall a lovely holiday with family making new memories and sharing some very old ones!

Cottage Review:

The Mountain Cottage was everything we needed and all we had hoped for. Centrally located, it offers ample space, two bathrooms, two showers and a bath. There are 3 bedrooms and accommodations for 4-5 people comfortably.

We were a party of 3 humans and one dog. The grounds and garden were exquisite. We sat on one of the benches every day without fail.

My only two complaints was leaving 2 sets of towels in each bedroom and having wardrobes or a chest of drawers in both of the higher bedrooms.

The Cottage was immaculate and offered most creature comforts.

Thank you for sharing your Cottage for a week. It made an already good vacation even greater.

We highly recommend this Cottage to any and all who intend to visit the Village of Coniston.
