“The house is stunning – so comfortable and beautiful. Attention to detail fantastic, bedrooms & bathrooms gorgeous – we all loved the fire in the sitting room. Dining room perfect and breakfast room cheerful. Kitchen and everywhere so well equipped. We came here to celebrate my 60th birthday and cannot fault anything. WONDERFUL! The entertainment room, so unexpected – just brilliant! Many thanks Barbara & Paul for providing such luxurious accommodation and delicious lemon drizzle cake & bubbly! Catherine et a

Absolute tremendous place. Loads of room (massive hallway, 3 reception rooms and a kitchen with breakfast room). Plenty of sleeping acccomdation (5 doubles with 3 en-suites). And a hall that has to be seen!

Everything was perfect and the style mixed modernity (very media friendly) with classic style.

Dream home really. And Newcastleton is a great wee spot - easy to get to and plenty of walks.

Definitely remcommended!

We went to Dalkeith House to celebrate a special family occasion. We all felt extremely privileged to have enjoyed this exceptional house. Barbara & Paul have thought of everything to make a the house a home from home for anyone who is lucky enough to stay here. We have enjoyed very different evenings. One sitting back enjoying the roaring fire with a couple of glasses of wine to a competitive night on the Xbox. We all had a fabulous time, loved every minute and can only hope to go back again.

Absolutely everything you could need in a property. Very comfortable, yet very high spec. Exceptionally clean and excellently presented. Many different rooms to sit, chat, play and eat comfortably with children or entertain more formally. Beautiful and spacious bedrooms with exceptionally comfortable beds. This house is big enough to allow you to have a bit of peace and quite away from your group and yet lends itself excellently to bustling social gatherings. Very beautiful garden too with space for eating out. We all loved it. I would recommend this to all my friends and family and will be back again.

Cottage Review: A beautiful house on the edge of the village square with plenty of parking for all the family. We loved it from the moment we walked in through the front door. It is very modern in terms of kitchen, the bathrooms and the games room, but the furnishings are old-fashioned luxury, except for the games room seating which is very modern. The children disappeared for hours on end playing on the Xbox 360 Kinect, 3D Sky plus HD, 3D Blu-Ray DVD player, all on the 3D HD massive wide-screen TV. They were so busy in there that we ran out of time for the planned activities day at Rock UK just up the road. We are all keen mountain bikers and the 7 Stanes trails are a ten minute ride away in the forest. Spectacular scenery too. We really needed longer - we were full of plans to visit some of the local attractions in the brochures provided but never even made it to any of the pubs. There is a very good butcher in the village and a bakery plus lots more - everything we needed. I cannot think of anything I would have added to the house - it's just beautiful. Definitely the most luxurious one we've stayed in. Very glad I don't have to clean all those bathrooms! The rooms are all large enough to spend quiet time in - our youngest loved the window seat in his room - and the dining room was absolutely perfect for a huge family dinner - we had 16. The "small" dining room table is huge too - it would definitely seat more than ten and it's a real suntrap. The garden is beautiful - obviously very lovingly tended - and we meant to take some pictures every time we walked through it to the bike storage - but we ran out of time. Would definitely come back here - a great venue and lovely area.

Cottage Review: Our party was a large group of family, 5 couples. We needed a venue to celebrate a special occasion and Dalkeith House turned out to be just perfect. It had everything we could possibly need to create an event we will long remember in a venue that charmed and delighted. My favourite room was the Drawing Room with its cosy atmosphere and open fire. We slept in the Peach Bedroom with its truly sumptuous, comfortable beds. The weather was fantastic and we enjoyed walks in the forest; explored the village and feasted on some traditional pub food. A nine hole golf course and the 7stanes mountain bike trails are nearby - we didn't manage to try these but some of the party with us did. We all loved the house and its location and regret not booking the extra time to extend the weekend. We will definitely be back. No dislikes.

Cottage Review: The time spent at Dalkeith House was, in one word - perfect. Before we even stepped out of the car on arrival we were warmly greeted by Barbara and given a tour of the house & garden. Every room in the house is designed to be comfortable and beautiful, with every generation catered for. We had 3 grandparents, 2 parents and one teenager. The teen of the family enjoyed the TV, music and technology; the parents enjoyed the selection of books, the modern kitchen and the breakfast room, whilst the older generation preferred the quiet lounge and peaceful gardens. The time and effort put into this house has been remarkable, and has certainly paid off! An extra special surprise for us on arrival was the bottle of bubbly in the fridge and wonderful home-baking (lemon drizzle cake to die for!!). Newcastleton is also a very friendly town and an ideal base to visit the surrounding area. We enjoyed local hospitality at the village Craft Fair and ate out at the two hotel restaurants 50-100 yards from the house ! We visited Kielder, Hawick, Jedburgh and my daughter enjoyed a lovely pony trek at Bayley Mills. It was a wonderful few days and we hope to return again! The only negative point we would make is that our stay wasn't long enough! Highly recommended.
