Eildon Cottages are beautifully situated on a hillside with wonderful views across the hills around the delightful town of Melrose. The situation is both peaceful and convenient for the town of Melrose & the surrounding Border country side. | Cottage Review:
We have been to Single Tree Cottage, one of the Eildon Holiday Cottages , every year since 2005 and this year we have been twice! That is proof how much we enjoy going there. Initially, we chose Eildon as my husband is disabled and uses a wheelchair. The accommodation is absolutely suited to his needs. It is spacious enough to allow him easy access and specialist equipment is available if it is needed. However, it is more than that. It is homely accommodation where the needs of the disabled person are catered for in a discreet and unobtrusive way. Indeed I would recommend this holiday cottage to any family, whether it includes a disabled person or not. It is spotlessly clean, comfortable and very well furnished and is lovely to come back home to after a day out. The owners, Jill and Tom Hart, are extremely friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make you welcome. The cottages are situated on the slopes of one of the Eildon Hills in a very quiet location. The views overlooking Melrose, the Tweed Valley and beyond are lovely and something we never tire of. Infact, there is so much on offer in the area that the cottage is a perfect base for us. From the cottages it is possible to access footpaths up onto the hills and into Melrose. Edinburgh, with its attractions for every age group, is easily accessible by car, as is the beautiful coastline around St.Abbs and northwards to North Berwick. The hills and rivers of the Borders are truly inspiring and there is a variety of attractions - historic houses, abbeys and castles, gardens, cycle tracks and riverside walks galore. There is so much to do that we hope to return for another visit next year. |
