Our first visit to this property was lovely. It had been recommended to us by a family friend and we found it very comfortable and warm with all we needed. The wood stove was definitely needed and it was lovely to use as much fuel as we required.

We booked Thairn Cottage at relatively short notice and were delighted with our choice. Yvette gave us an excellent welcome. The cottage is set in a beautiful location which can be appreciated very well from the south-facing conservatory. There are recommendations for walks from the cottage, the longest of which we did. We used the cottage as a base for trips to the coast (Abbs Head was spectacular) and to Cragside in Northumberland as well as visiting more local attractions. We greatly appreciated the uncrowded roads! There is excellent eating in Kelso (we found two very good restaurants) and Floors Castle (about 4 miles away) sells very good frozen main courses and sweets "prepared by the chef to the Duke and Duchess of Roxburghe". We hope to visit again and strongly recommend these cottages.

Cottage Review:

We stayed in Mungo's Well where everything that was needed for a self-catering holiday was provided. The cottage was spotlessly clean & very comfortable. To sit in the conservatory to enjoy the views, garden & wildlife was very relaxing. The Border's provided too many places for us to visit in a week but all the places we managed to visit were interesting & worth a second look.

We had a delightful holiday at this clean, cosy and comfortable cottage, where we were made very welcome by the owners. The cottage was provided with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and pleasant. The views from the cottage, particularly from the small conservatory, are very open and pretty with the attractive shrub garden in the foreground. We were even provided with a bird feeder and were able to observe a wide range of birds visiting this. There is ample off road parking and secure dry bicycle storage. The pretty border town of Kelso with its attractive square, shops, supermarkets, bicycle shop and a range of eating places is only two miles or so away. There are many places of historical or other interest to visit in the surrounding area at no great distance and Edinburgh is only a 50 to 60 minute drive away. There are also many pretty, small lanes in the surrounding area which are excellent to explore by bicycle and access to other longer distance cycle routes and circuits. We would recommend this or one of the other two similar cottages to anyone wanting to visit this area, and hope to visit again ourselves.

Cottage Review:

This was our second visit to a beautiful area of Scotland. The cottage is superb, beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. We would recommend this cottage to anyone and we are sure that you would not be disappointed with it. Pat and Sam were as helpful as ever, and, it was a pleasure to make their acquaintance again.
