Cottage Review:

This is our second visit to Water's Edge, which tells a story in itself. There is something for everyone here.

Starting with the location, Water's Edge is nicely placed on a river in the quiet village of Ruswarp. It is possible to walk into Whitby in 30 mins, along the path between the river and the railway. Whitby itself has so much to do that it would be impossible to list here. We made the most of the town, including the mandatory fish and chips and visit to the Abbey. The nearest supermarkets are a 10 min drive away from the property. We also made the most of the easy access to the off road cycle path which goes from Whitby to Scarborough. Within walking distance there is boat rental for the river, a café, miniature railway and a local shop.

The property itself is well equipped, clean and nicely maintained. The rear of the property has a nice outdoor seating area and a conservatory, so that you can enjoy the views of the river and the passing of the North Yorks Moors Railway trains come rain or shine. There is a platform that goes down to the river's edge so that you can feed the ducks or even launch a boat if you wanted.

The rest of the property is well laid out. Our only feeling about how it could be improved would be to have one of the double rooms converted to a twin so that sleeping arrangement would be more versatile.

We would love to return to this delightful holiday cottage. Having been twice, we'd be very happy to come back and do it all over again.

This house is amazing and I cannot recommend it enough - great so close to the river and steam trains, house very well equipped with everything you could wish for - thanks to the owners for lots of careful thought. Beds really comfy and lots of storage. The conservatory was a great place to spot the herons and kingfishers along with the residents ducks of course!! Loads to do in the immediate area - boating down the road along with mini train and Mini Monsters with climbing wall which was a great hit with our 7 year old!! Lots to do further afield and be

After spending the last 4 holidays travelling around Wales, this year we wanted to go somewhere different. Having to accommodate 3 seniors, 2 adults and 2 under 10s isn't always easy. Found this property via Sykes.

This is a fantastic place to stay!! 3 double bedrooms and 1 bunk bedroom, very large lounge, nice well equipped kitchen, conservatory, garden with patio, a river, ducks, herons, kingfishers and a steam train passing the back garden. Everyone had a fantastic time. Easy 1 mile walk to Whitby. Jackson butcher in the village is fab, must try his p
