The Old Forge is centrally located being just a short walk to the centre of the village and the pubv in Ilsington and for centuries the village forge, the prettiest of thatched detached cottages with a sunny little enclosed garden (table/chairs, bench, barbecue, bicycle store) looking to the neighbouring church (bells Sunday mornings/Wednesday evenings).

Inside The Old Forge cottage on Dartmoor, comfortable and welcoming with good-sized rooms, polished wood floors (rugs) and, from upstairs (high apex beams, Velux windows/sloping eaves), pretty countryside/church views. Terracotta-tiled entrance lobby (space for coats/boots) to comfy living room (TV/DVD/video) with living flame gas stove; kitchen/dining room (dishwasher, microwave, gas hob/electric oven, iPod dock)

There is a ground floor double bedroom in The Old Forge cottage with two smart shower-rooms (suites) with tiled floors; rear porch/utility with washing machine and stable doors to garden. Upstairs (steep narrow stairs, rope rail), making the most of the lofty eaves space and the views, a double bedroom and a room with two singles, both with lowish lintels and narrow doors. No children under 12.

Cottage Review:   This cottage suited us perfectly for Christmas. Three of us, a room downstairs for my elderly parents and a difficult choice of two wonderful rooms upstairs for me! Very clean and cosy, the owners and caretaker were very helpful and kind, which made our Christmas extra special. Wonderful location, everything you'd want for Christmas on your doorstep: Beautiful countryside on the doorstep to walk off the Christmas dinner.
