Description of the holiday cottage

The Hayloft holiday cottage in Manaton on Dartmoor in Devon is a 3 bedroom barn conversion that sleeps 6 people and is dog friendly. Set in a wonderful location that is a short walk from the pub in the centre of Manaton, The Hayloft is perfect for a family that loves the wonderful Dartmoor countryside, enjoys the fresh air and the wonderful walks and views.

The Hayloft holiday cottage is situated in the peaceful wooded hamlet of Water and about half a mile walk through woods from Lustleigh Cleave/river Bovey, a beautiful cottage converted from a hayloft above granite stables (horses occasionally) beyond the owners ancient farmhouse.

Enclosed courtyard (table/chairs) immediately to the side and, beyond the owners walled garden, your own enclosed private garden (picnic bench). You are welcome to wander the 9 acres of gardens, woodland, pond (unfenced) and fields (sheep, horses, chickens). From parking area at The Hayloft in Manaton, there is 60 yards of gravel path and 3 steps to front door.

Big tiled hall (space for walking gear). Stairs (top stairgate) up to wonderful open-plan living/dining/kitchen with spectacular views from big roof windows across fields to Black Hill, hand-built kitchen (dishwasher, larder fridge) with large table/benches/stools at one end and, at the other, woodburner, TV/DVD/Blu-ray and big leather sofas. Two steps up to hallway and two double bedrooms (limited clothes-hanging space), one with 5' bed and each with smart en suite shower-room (suite).

Beyond the living area, another double bedroom with en suite bathroom (suite plus hand-shower). Exterior utility room (washing machine, tumble drier, freezer). Stabling available, by arrangement. A beautiful, relaxed place to stay at any time of year with woodland and moorland walks from the door.

Cottage Review:   Family of 4 (2 boys 13 & 15). We arrived to a warm & friendly welcome from Astrid who introduced us to our accommodation and was only too happy to explain everything in detail. Fresh eggs from the resident chickens and freshly cut daffodils were a nice little extra. An extremely spacious open plan living area that suited us perfectly which made for a relaxing living space. Having an en-suite to all bedrooms was a great boon, especially with 2 teenagers. For those of you who like a real fire the wood burner is just the ticket to get the room nice and

Cottage Review:   This was our second visit to The Hayloft in 2 years. The accommodation is spectacular. High quality throughout with ample space and equipment for six adults. Each bedroom with an en suite is a real bonus. The situation is perfect for walking, cycling, sightseeing throughout Dartmoor. The owners are delightful and make you so welcome. They do all they can to make your stay relaxing and carefree.

Cottage Review:   We recently stayed in The Lofthouse and were mesmerised by the property and surrounding countryside. We were lucky enough to see the small baby lambs. Fantastic walks and amazing pubs that serve up great food. We will be returning as we never had enough time to explore all of the surrounding area.
