The Coach House holiday cottage near Lydford in Devon is a large and luxury holiday home on a farm 2 miles from Lydford, with both an indoor and out door swimming pool and games room, there is plenty to do at this fantastic large holiday cottage on Dartmoor. Ideal for a large family or group, there are plenty of things to do in the area and activities can be arranged before arrival, bring your dog and stay in this wonderful holiday home, ideal for exploring the moors and the gorge. The Coach House is two miles south-west of Lydford and 1 from its gorge, 400 yards of private farm-lane end at Burnville Farm, a lovely farmstead amid beech trees. It is on the side of a shallow stream-valley with supreme views of Dartmoor hills and tors and to Brentors peak-top church, from almost anywhere on the 250 acre working farm (direct moor access from it). There are sheep, cattle, ponies, pigs, chickens, ornamental pheasants. You can roam the farm and help is most welcome. Stabling/grazing for your own ponies/horses; a pond (picnicking) with mallard, moorhen and usually Canada geese in spring; badgers and foxes about. Clay pigeon shooting and instruction, archery tuition (equipment provided) and mountain bikes by arrangement. Fenced outdoor heated swimming pool, available 22 May to 12 September and hard tennis court shared with owners. Fun badminton and volleyball. Games room (6 foot pool table, table tennis, skittle alley) and well-equipped gym in a refurbished barn. Lovely walled vegetable garden; fresh veg available in season, and eggs. Meals available in the owners' house. Golf and gliding, 2 miles. The extremely nice owners live nearby but out of sight and do B&B in their own house.... the converted coachhouse has its own indoor swimming pool, endless pool with variable river flow and sauna in a separate building just a few yards away. Own heated games room (snooker, table tennis, table football), lovely paved patio (table/chairs, barbecue) and about an acre of garden (partly stepped or sloping, but with large level lawn areas, sandpit, wooden playhouse). Inside The Coach House in Lydford, well-decorated and furnished, mainly big rooms with many windows (original coachhouse openings). Comfortable living room with big fireplace (open fire), big arched French windows, TV/DVD; elegant dining room with arched windows, slate floor, piano, glazed door to patio. There is a smart fitted kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, electric range-style cooker, larder fridge); maple-floored den with woodburner, TV and French windows to forecourt; laundry room (washing machine, tumble drier, freezer, larder fridge, sink); childrens snug with wood floor, beanbags, toys; boot room with shower; loo. Upstairs at The Coach House there are five bedrooms including the master double (mahogany 5' bed) with en suite shower-room (suite), another double (brass 5' bed), a twin, a single, and a childrens room with two sets of 3' bunks; two bathrooms (suites, one with shower over bath). Heat generated by biomass system. Arrival after 4pm, departure by 11am. Tremendous atmosphere, freedom and number of things for adults and children to do, and the houses are much praised. Sumptuous evening meal menu. Outdoor swimming pool available 22 May to 12 September.
