Cottage Review:

We booked Ruggadon's converted barn as a last minute 4 night break with our one year old before the second Corona lockdown kicked in!

We picked the right place, it was very well presented, spacious, cosy and most of all set in the most picturesque and peaceful Devon valley.

Added to that great access to Dartmoor and the Devon coast and it should work for most people who want to explore a bit.

Plenty of room for a baby to learn to toddle and nice soft carpets make it very homely. A well set up kitchen works nicely and the bathroom was roomy and very well finished. We had the cot in with us in the stylish master bedroom and there was lots of space.

With an orchard outside your window and various animals scattered around the farm (the overly friendly cat and dogs were all great) it's a great place for animal and nature lovers. We'll have to come back in the summer to see the wildflower meadow in bloom.

My single warning would be that the driveway down is steep and windy and on an real icy winter day I wouldn't fancy it much! (And I've lived in Devon and driven single track roads daily). It is also a bit out of the way in general but for us that only added to the appeal. If you don't like singletrack farm lanes then it may not be for you.

We had a great stay and were very well looked after by Rachel at all times, including fresh farm eggs and homemade apple juice.

We will be back so we can sit on the veranda with coffee and watch the birds in the orchard again one day!
