Description of the holiday cottage

Parnacott House is set two miles seaward of Holsworthy and 7 miles from Bude, a beautiful, mainly Georgian house (some parts 17th century), Grade II listed, in the same family since 1580 (Pepys, Creed, Dryden and John Graves Simcoe, founder of modern Ontario, were ancestors), set in 12 acres of gardens and grounds surrounded by fields, rich in lawns, Victorian rhododendrons, flowers, shrubs, lots of mature trees and plentiful wildlife, especially birds.

Parnacott House near Holsworthy in North Devon is a superb, extremely comfortable house with excellent furniture, family memorabilia and portraits. Big, square, high rooms with large windows, beautifully decorated and furnished, with flowers from the garden and other homely touches. We have just returned from a week?s holiday in Parnacott House.

This house is hidden from the road, down a tree-lined drive. On entering the gates to Parnacott, you find yourself on a sweeping drive, bringing you to the impressive Georgian frontage of the main house. What an absolute pleasure of a home! Clearly greatly loved and carefully looked after. Polished and shining, the house really is beautiful and very impressive. It is quiet and peaceful, with plenty of room for everyone.

The owners live nearby and were extremely pleasant, warm and welcoming during our stay. Any problems can be dealt with immediately and they were really very helpful as a source for all manner of local information and advice.

For rainy days there is a table tennis table in the barn and a pool table in the house. The extensive grounds are stunning, a great pleasure to wander around and explore. I had a very clear feeling that the owners had tried to think of everything that one might possibly need for a comfortable stay, and made sure they provided it.

I would recommend this holiday home to anyone seeking a peaceful holiday in a beautiful and lovely house surrounded by outstanding countryside.

Parnacott House was the perfect place for our gathering of old friends (plus dog!) to have a belated xmas celebration. The house feels like a proper family home with real history and we were made so welcome with fresh flowers from the garden adorning the rooms. Fantastic large dining room and sitting room, wonderful comfortable bedrooms, well equipped homely kitchen and beautiful gardens. We will definitely be back!

We stayed for a week with family and friends and had a great time. The house is full of character and is very spacious with lots of large bedrooms, reception areas and historic features. The dining room is spectacular and so are the grounds. The property is really well located close to Bude and the stunning Cornish and Devon coastline. Would definitely recommend!

This great house hosted a fantastic week for our family and friends. The Georgian front has a grandeur which emanates from every brick and stone. The dining room easily sat our party of twelve as we dined in style watched over by family portraits and other objets d'arts. Plenty of room in the drawing room for cocktails beforehand.

This grandeur is ideally complemented by the more 'homely' feel of the rooms behind; a well equipped kitchen and breakfast area, comfortable sitting area with wood burning stove, entertainment room with pool table and games console

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at Parnacott House. The house is full of charm and splendour, the gardens/grounds are beautiful and very well looked after. The owners are also very close by and extremely obliging.

It is very peaceful and wildlife abounds: hare and deer in particular visit the grounds daily.

For a large party of people (sleeps up to 14), it is particularly ideal. The house is large enough that you do not feel you are living on top of each other. If you feel like escaping for a quiet read, that is easy to do.

Just returned home after a long week-end in this stunning property with a group of friends. It is the perfect luxurious, but homely and comfortable getaway. Beautiful setting with wild Hares frolicking on the lawn. The house has everything you could possibly want including warm and welcoming hosts who will do everything to make your stay comfortable.

We stayed here a couple of weekends ago for my mother in laws 60th Birthday. We had the most incredible weekend. The house is beautiful, so lovely and clean. The kitchen is very well equipped and my children loved all the outdoor games and toys they provided. We will definitely be going back as it?s the perfect house for a big family to stay in.

Spent a fantastic few days at this beautiful house. Just like a place straight out of the pages of a Jane Austin novel, from the moment you pass through the gates and travel along the sweeping gravel driveway and first catch sight of it's imposing facade, you feel transported back to a gentler time. Although it does have all the mod con's we have come to expect. It is comfortable, very well equipped and extremely welcoming. The owners are very friendly and always on hand if you need them, but never intrusive. There was chocolates, cake, wine and beautiful fresh flower arrangements waiting for us on arrival, and the owners take you on a little tour of the house and regale you with the fascinating history of the house and the family. A truly magical holiday.
