The cottage is extensively equipped with everything you could wish for, including a super-efficient electric cooker. WE supply all wood for the wood-burner for the duration of your stay

Best Features

This cottage lies on the most wonderful waterfront site where you can launch your own boats/kayaks straight off the grass on Spring tides. We have tried to cater for everyone - superbly equipped for self-catering - you like to cook? we provide cookbooks and all necessary utensils and electric equipment: from superb new cooker with eco function, fridge, microwave, freezer, to fondue set, cake tins, and barbecue set.

We are immensely proud of our Green Tourism Silver Award gained for having energy efficient white goods; using and supplying green cleaning materials; adopting water and heat saving activities, such as sheep's wool insulation, blackout blinds on all windows, and encouragement for visitors to reduce their carbon footprint by sign-posting to local activities and public transport, and by the supply of locally sourced wood for use in the extremely efficient wood-burner. We support our local charity - the International Otter Survival Fund, by adopting otters and providing a collection box in the cottage - if you are really lucky you will be able to watch one from the sitting room window! We have provided bird feeders to encourage the myriad garden birds who visit us daily, together with binoculars and guidebooks to help you identify them. We have an extensive supply of guidebooks and suggestions as to how you can spend your time on Skye, without having to visit the "honey spots".

And if the weather really isn't your friend, we do have super fast broadband, and have a wide selection of DVDs and lots of books to read, curled up next to the wood-burner.

Cottage Review:

This was our first stay on the Isle of Skye and at Oystercatchers Cottage and everything was wonderful. We loved staying in this house where we felt at home. The view, of course, is incredible, with the impression of always discovering a new landscape depending on the tide or the day's weather, but it's also the location that's remarkable. The cottage is very close to Broadford and lots of activities, but at the same time completely quiet. The house is fully equipped and the bedrooms are very comfortable. We came as a party of 4 (my husband and I, our 4-year-old daughter and my father-in-law) and everyone had their place. Our daughter in particular loved staying in her large bedroom.

If we ever get the chance to come back to Skye, we'll definitely stay here again!

This was our first family trip to Skye and we immediately loved the location of the cottage - close enough to Broadford and beyond for various activities, but very quiet with no through traffic, and ideally located on the waterfront with magnificent views. Lots of garden space with firepit and seating areas, and private parking. The well-stocked kitchen is the focal point of the cottage, alongside a cosy living room, large bathroom, utility room and large bedroom all on the ground floor. Upstairs are two very comfortable bedrooms and a shower room. There are binders with all sorts of information on the cottage's facilities, as well as leaflets for local sights to try out. Lots of useful mod cons throughout, including a digital TV, coffee machine, plenty of plugs/charge points and more. Looking forward to rebooking again - we had a fantastic time here!

We had the most fantastic few days at Oystercatchers. It really is the most comfortable and cosy cottage, fully equipped and in a perfect location. It was chilly when we arrived but very warm inside the cottage and we fired up the wood burner only on one night but purely just for the cosy glow of the flames. The weather was very kind all week and we were treated to the most spectacular sunset from the west facing garden. Sitting by the fire pit with good company and a glass of wine is the perfect way to end the day looking at the incredible views. We ventured out on a few day trips and can recommend Elgol and definitely a boat trip with Misty Isle Boats. Very entertaining crew on board and a 90 minute walk around lock Coruisk was magnificent. There is also a good snack bar at Elgol and we bagged a couple of Lobster rolls for £4.90 that were superb! We also dined at the Coruisk House (Michelin listed) restaurant which was insanely good, not cheap but we felt it was worth it. We also recommend Cafe Sia in Broadford for tasty pizza and first class Langoustine! We have lots more to explore on Skye and can't wait to return and will definitely stay in Oystercatchers again!

We had a great week here. It has a fantastic location for wildlife and walking. We saw Otters, Red Deer and a good variety of waders, Herons and Hooded Crows. The garden bird feeders attracted a lot of birds including Coal Tits and Hooded Crows.

The local restaurant (Red Skye) served excellent food - But you must book! The remainder of Skye is within drivable distances for any day outings.

This is a stunning cottage, beautifully presented with all the comforts of your own home. It is situated on the banks of a sea inlet and when the tide comes in it laps the garden wall. The views are stunning from every window in the house with uninterrupted views of sea, grassland and mountains. The area is very peaceful and populated with similar properties. Local facilities are within a five minute drive and more than adequate for your stay. The owners keep everything at a high standard and you will have everything necessary for a comfortable stay. It is an excellent base for visiting all the main attractions.

To sum up in one word... “perfect”. This beautiful cottage and it’s idyllic surroundings made our stay in Skye memorable for all the right reasons. The cottage itself was clean, well equipped, and provided lots of useful information relating to the area and it’s wildlife inhabitants. We were blessed with incredible weather which allowed us to take advantage of the lovely garden where numerous oystercatchers could be seen... The bed was incredibly comfortable and the log fire a real treat. The only downside was that we couldn’t stay longer. One of the nicest cottages we have ever stayed in, thank you so much.

‘Twas late in the year of 2019
Four Midlanders wanted a real change of scene
We left our houses, all warm and dry
And headed up North to the Isle of Skye
We went on a boat trip which left from Elgol
Over grass, mud and black rocks, we took a nice stroll
And somehow we didn’t break too many bones
As we stumbled and slipped on the set stepping stones
We saw the lighthouse, standing proud at Neist Point
The Boreraig village did not disappoint.
We stood out for hours on three freezing nights
But saw no sign at all of the Northern Lights
Our cottage in Breakish came right up to scratch
Neither wee mice nor oysters did we actually catch
We’re confident that, however you try,
You won’t find a better place anywhere on Skye.

Cottage Review: (UK) Thank you for another superb stay at your lovely cottage. Children enjoyed playing in the garden and on the shore. As a chef for fifty years I found the oven the best of any holiday cottage we have stayed in. Once again another great stay on Skye – the weather was stunning as the last visit.

This was not our first visit to Skye (too many to count!) but it certainly won’t be our last. Hope to come back again soon. Thank you.

Cottage Review: (UK)We’ve had a wonderful few days on the Isle fo Skye. Cottage is beautiful and we’ve felt so at home. We’ve been utterly spoilt with the weather making for amazing sunrises and sunsets to watch from the cottage. J has loved watching out for birds at the feeders and playing with the games! Thank you!

Cottage Review: (Germany) As part of a round trip through Scotland we stayed here for three nights. We loved this beautiful cottage and its setting from the beginning. We didn’t have much time, but we visited some very beautiful places on this wonderful island. On our first day we went to Kylerhea where we saw many seals, oystercatchers, herons and cormorants. Thank you that we could use your binoculars, so it was a fantastic experience for us and our 8 and ten year old girls. IN the afternoon we visited the “Fairy Pools”. What a wonderful place. Don’t forget to take your swimsuit with you – and something that keeps away the midges if you go there in the evening. On our second day, we did a hiking tour to and around the “Old Man of Storr”. The weather was perfect and so we had fantastic views over the island. At last, we also visited Kilt Rock. WE had a great time here. Thanks you , that we would stay in your amazing cottage, Everything was so well organised and considered. We missed nothing here and would like to stay longer.

We saw those naughty sheep eating right up to the fence, bold as anything – just as well it was on the okay side – so funny seeing them trot over the little bit of water to home. Loved watching the changes as the tide came and went. Amazed at the few hours of darkness. Had fine weather. Bus tour excellent for may stops for photos around much of island. Coming home from fish and chips at Broadford and grey clouds fat rain drops. I said I felt there should be a rainbow. W. said there’s one behind us (looking in rear vision mirror). Bright and spectacular

Cottage Review: (IoM) We enjoyed our week at Oystercatchers very much. The cottage is cosy and facilities are good. The location is convenient for shops and exploring south Skye and the Mainland. We had fantastic sunsets from the garden overlooking the loch. We hiked to Boreraig and Suishnish, the mighty Marsco (after an aborted attempt in 2008!) and took a boat to Loch Coruisk and hiked back to Elgol via Glen Sligachan via Camasunary. We brought our sea kayaks with us, however we have not used them yet as we have had so much great hiking – we’ll have to come back!
