Description of the self catering
in Lower Cator, snugly tucked around a part-cobbled courtyard with wonderful walks in all directions from the door, a Devon longhouse (A169) and an ancient hayloft imaginatively converted into a brilliant get-away for two (A177), all with origins in the 15th cent.. They once formed part of a family farm and farming is continued by neighbours. Spring water. A brilliant spot for true country-lovers and walkers.
The longhouse has a big, enclosed lawned garden (table/chairs) at the back. Original occupants would have housed their precious livestock under the same roof; now its a cosy cottage with lovely flagstone floors and exposed beamwork, approached over 50 yards of hardcore track. From the courtyard, door to cobbled cross passage (55 lintel) with back door to garden; living room with flagstone floor (rug), huge inglenook (woodburner) and TV/DVD; dining room; galley kitchen (washing machine, tumble drier, microwave, fridge-freezer, solid-fuel Rayburn, electric cooker). From dining room, stone stairs up to three bedrooms a double, a twin, and one with two singles; bathroom (suite with 5 long bath).
