Description of the holiday cottage

Ley Park holiday cottage in Welcombe in Devon is a 4 bedroom large holiday house in Welcombe that sleeps 8 people in 4 bedrooms including 3 double bedrooms and one twin bedroom.

Ley Park is three quarters of a mile by footpath from Welcombe Mouth in one direction and half a mile in the other from the excellent pub at Welcombe, a detached house with commanding views out to sea from upstairs, privately sheltered by its surrounding, enclosed well-kept gardens (tiny raised ornamental pond with safety cover). From the front gate a green lane leads to the coastal path and thence down to the beach (not a route for the unfit or heavily laden). Less arduous, a footpath across fields leads to the pub - remember torch!

Recent renovation has made Ley Park smartly comfortable without being precious, with wood or tiled floors in most rooms. Across the parking space there is a grassed area for ball games and, beyond that, subject to grazing stock, a field with unfenced pond in the far corner. Sitting room with a woodburner and a TV with DVD player looking out to the garden.

Ley Park has a large dining room-cum-second living room with TV and glazed doors to garden; equally large smart kitchen with a dishwasher, microwave, oil-fired Rayburn, electric cooker/induction hob, with sofa and 4 steps down to utility room with freezer, washing machine, tumble drier, sink, loo, lots of room for coats/boots and door to garden.

Stairs up to four bedrooms at various levels, with sea views from all the doubles bedrooms, a roomy twin and bathroom (suite, shower over bath); a few steps down to another double with en suite shower-room (suite) and a few steps up to a double with en suite shower-room (suite). A quiet, private, star-gazing place with lots of space around.

Cottage Review:   This was the first real family holiday in the Uk for years with both our children and one partner and two offspring. The house is immaculate and a big surprise was the table laden with welcome goodies, scones, cakes , wine and juices. The bedrooms are fine with lovely views over the cliffs to the sea. The grounds were fantastic and the little boys had great fun running through the gardens and field next door. Two Tvs is a bonus and the wood burning stove was a great asset on chilly nights. We will go back as soon as we can.
