Description of the holiday cottage

Higher House Farm holiday cottage in Branscombe in Devon is located along a country lane, a quarter of a mile from one of the pubs in Branscombe and one and a half miles from the sea, a pretty 16th century stone-built house set within 2 acres of enclosed, immaculately kept gardens and woodland. Sloping lawned garden with pergola (table/chairs), excellent for alfresco dining, thatched linhay, old covered well. Birds and wildlife, such as deer, badgers and rabbits, are often spotted. In a small barn, games room with a children's compendium games table upstairs (uneven steps) and, downstairs, a utility room with a washing machine, tumble drier, freezer. Outdoor loo. The owners occasionally stay in a small cottage adjacent to the house. Higher House Farm in Branscombe has a gorgeous hall with flagstones and a dining room with huge inglenook fireplace (woodburner), beams and sweet little mullioned windows with window seats. Steep uneven stairs up to a double bedroom. Attractive living room on two levels with mullioned windows, central pillar, beams, wood floor (rugs), inglenook (woodburner), TV/DVD and light furnishings. Long, narrow stylish fitted kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, cooker with halogen hob), leading to light conservatory with table/chairs for 4 and glazed doors to the garden.Two original uneven steep winding staircases lead upstairs from the dining room and the living room to four bedrooms:- The master double with beams and 2 steps up to dressing room/nursery. En suite shower and separate loo (washbasin, bidet). A double with beams and mullioned windows looking over the garden. A twin with door to the garden. This room and the previous double share a small bathroom. A double with beams, mullioned windows and steep stairs down to the dining room. En suite shower-room (suite) and bathroom (bath, washbasin).A charming house with interesting original features in a picturesque, unspoilt coastal spot.
