Description of the cottage holiday
Courtyard Apartment is one mile seaward of Rosudgeon in Acton Castle, commanding the peninsula between Stackhouse Cove (200 yards walk away, low-tide sand) and Prussia Cove, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. While on St Michael s Mount in 1772, the romantic but rheumatic seaweed expert, John Stackhouse, spotted the site for his wedding present to his betrothed, Susanna Acton. Courtyard Apartment near Rusudgeon is thick-walled and Grade II listed, it has formal gardens and lawns, terraces and sunken garden with pond and sensational sea views, including of St Michael s Mount. Private rough drive to it. Farmland all round. Coast path. The castle is now divided into apartments. Courtyard Apartment in Acton Castle is on the ground floor (arrow 3) with its own very private, sheltered courtyard (table/chairs) and lovely right-down-the-coast-and-out-to-sea views. Entrance from the back of the castle into large hall with slate floor and utility cupboard (washing machine, tumble drier, sink); very large open-plan living/dining/kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer) with slate floor in a split-level arrangement with 2 steps dividing the comfy sofa area (TV/DVD) from the dining/kitchen area, lovely mullioned windows (window seats), electric stove and French windows to courtyard. Two bedrooms including a double with narrow door to en suite shower-room (suite), and a twin; bathroom (suite, shower over bath plus hand-shower).Sleeps: 4
