Cottage Review:
Our host ensured our stay at the very peaceful Cononley Cottage was comfortable and enjoyable. He had clearly thought through all our needs and this was reflected in our stay. We arrived at the house with a lovely welcome basket full of yummy goodies & a binder full of useful info, which was very kind & thoughtful. We stayed for 7 nights and we were sad to leave! Comments: - Village Location: Cononley is surrounded by incredible beauty; even on cold and grey days it is still stunning. Keighley and Skipton are a stone?s throw away, both with supermarkets etc. We particularly enjoyed the many surrounding hikes (all within varying difficulty but all with consistently beautiful views). - Cottage Location: The cottage is situated within a few seconds walk to a friendly pub with lovely outdoor seating area. The cottage is a 2 min walk to a well-stocked village shop with reasonable prices and friendly staff. The train station is conveniently close to the cottage, with access to Keighley and Skipton just a few mins train journey each way. Our dog loved riding on the train and the views of the hills along the way are amazing! The train tracks are nearby, and you can hear the trains sometimes, but we very quickly got used to it. Most trains coming past, were slowing down to stop at the station so were relatively quiet. - Parking: Unfortunately, there is minimal close-by parking and we had to park in a nearby car park (free) but it meant carrying all our luggage to/from the cottage to the car park in the rain. By no means a major issue for us, but people with disabilities should be aware of this. - Living Room: The Smart TV was large and had access to Netflix which was great for rainy ?rest-days? by the cosy log fire. The sofa was extremely comfortable and very big! A bag of wood & kindling was left for us when we got there, and the village shop stocks it too if you run out. The view out of the living room window is somewhat wanting. The front of the cottage overlooks a small garden & the row of houses opposite. It may be better in spring/summer when the front garden is in bloom. - Kitchen: Large & well-equipped, bright and clean. The train tracks are visible from the kitchen, but it wasn?t too bad of a view. - Bedrooms: Both rooms are very large ? particularly the main bedroom at the front-facing side. There is a TV in the bigger room which is very nice touch and we used this frequently too. Hairdryers, clean towels, and cotton bedding provided. - Bathroom: Large shower and sink ? very clean and modern fixtures & fittings. The host kindly provided shampoo/conditioner/body soap. Our only criticism is that the water pressure is not great. The water would sometimes stop mid-shower and made washing the dog tricky. It?s likely due to location/age of the house, but just a heads up about this All in all ? we would highly recommend this gorgeous little getaway in a breathtaking location with all the convenience of a town, but with the peaceful tranquility of a hidden village. I have no doubt we will be returning in the summer. A massive thank you to the host for all the thoughtful touches and making our stay so comfortable. |
