Description of the self catering
the oldest cottage in the heart of Knowstone, a 16th cent. thatched stone and cob cottage (in a little terrace) within staggering distance of the good food pub and church (rarely any bells). At the back, an enclosed, mostly lawned garden (table/chairs, barbecue) and, beyond that, meadows and lovely long views to Exmoor. From the lane, stable doors (low lintel) into living/dining room with inglenook (woodburner) and a heavily beamed ceiling (5'6" head clearance), books, toys, games; fitted kitchen with washing machine and microwave (freezer under the stairs); 3 stone steps down to shower-room (suite) and door to garden. Door from living room to 9 twisty, spiral steps (handrail, 4'10" lintel) up into double bedroom with some low exposed roof beams; this room leads through to a twin bedroom, both rooms with typical 18th cent. uneven floors.
