Description of the holiday cottage

Clare Park is situated on the river Teign in the small village of Combeinteignhead which is a mile from the larger village and beaches of Shaldon. The many beaches and towns of the South Devon coastline are within easy reach and the wild expanses of Dartmoor are a short drive away. The house accommodates up to 8 guests in spacious comfort. There are 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a well equipped dining kitchen, separate dining room and large sitting room. Over an acre of private lawned and wooded garden surrounds the property, from which there is direct gated access to the river and estuary beach, including a private slipway. There is ample parking for guests and plenty of storage space for bikes and watersports equipment.

Best Features

Clare Park is situated directly on the Teign estuary and enjoys extensive and beautiful views along the river and up to Dartmoor. There is over an acre of gently sloping lawns and woodlands for guest’s private use and plenty of opportunity for waterbased activities from the house. For those of a more landbased nature there are many footpaths and cycleways in the vicinity and Dartmoor is within an easy 30 minute drive.

The accommodation in the house is all on one level and is therefore ideally suited to families with young children and also those with limited mobility. The estuary and Dartmoor views can be enjoyed from within the house or from the seating areas outside. In addition there is a secret internal courtyard which is idea for al fresco dining or simply as a quiet sheltered place to sit and read or sleep.

Cottage Review:  

We arrived on a sunny afternoon and were bowled over by the beautiful position of the house, with superb views of the river from the comfortable lounge and main bedroom. The house is well equipped, very comfortable and nicely decorated. It made an excellent base for our half term holiday. Harriet, the owner, was welcoming and helpful, she also bakes lovely cakes! We hope to visit again next year.

Cottage Review:  

A lovely house in a stunning setting. Extremely clean and well furnished, and the owner Harriet was very welcoming and helpful. There was a delicious home made cake waiting for us after a very long fractious drive! Would certainly recommend.
