A superbly presented property, ideal for couples who enjoy a holiday with all the benefits of the cottage's ideal location in a walking metropolis, but close enough to Ripon and Harrogate for the shopping if desired. Having stayed 3 years in a row, we would highly recommend the property.

We fell completely in love with Ashknott and keep mentioning it to each other - we wish we lived in it! A perfectly appointed hidey-hole. John and I came back to Yorkshire to get married at Fountains Abbey (alas, we no longer live locally) and wanted a base to catch our breath between our big day and our honeymoon. It was all we could have hoped for, and more. Absolutely everything was so well organised, so thoughtful, so luxurious. Sarah's kindness and welcome (and thoughtful touches of cake, beer and fizz, flowers, card...!) really made a great time even better. I have honestly never felt more welcome anywhere else - we so enjoyed every second in Ashknott. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

We have now stayed at Ashknott Cottage on three occassions and have aqlways been really pleased. The cottage is immaculately clean, there is milk in the fridge, a home baked cake and other goodies when we arrive. Sarah has made us very welcome and even leaves some treats for the dogs. An excellent base from which to explore the Dales. highly recommend.

Ashnott Cottage is all you could ask for. Sarah gave us a warm welcome with the log fire already lit and some wine and beer in the fridge. Even a homemade cake! A lovely roll-top bath and crisp white sheets made it feel very special and the village is perfect. With an award winning butcher, village store, fish and chip shop and the local pub that even has an indian restaurant. A nearby walk in Hackfall Woods and plenty of dog friendly pubs make it a great choice for dog owners. Thoroughly recommended.

What a lovely place to stay! The website describes the cottage exactly as it is - it was lovely and cosy for a winter stay. Sarah was welcoming, professional and friendly for the whole holiday booking proces and stay. Kirkby Malzeard is an ideal base and the village itself is great -very friendly people and it has all you need for car free days too. Busy lives and roads etc suddenly seemed a long way away! The cottage is set up really well and is beautifully presented and maintained. It was February, but I still sat on the bench in the front garden reading the newspaper in the sunshine on one day! Sarah has lots of local knowledge in her head and there is plenty of literature in the cottage too - take it all in, relax and enjoy some great outings in the local area along the way!

Slipping through the front door of Ashknott Cottage we entered into our own little cosy, romantic world, far from the hustle, bustle and strain of city life. Within minutes of settling in, you truly feel like Ashknott is your own home, you simply cannot help but warm to the place! By day you have the opportunity to explore all the wonders that North Yorkshire has to offer, but we can\'t guarantee you\'d want to leave the warmth and homeliness of the cottage to do so! By night, you simply cannot help but put your feet up with a glass of wine, and feel your cheeks redden from the heat of the real log fire. This of course is after you\'ve been to the local, cosy Yorkshire pub with authentic Indian cuisine! If you happen to wake up the following morning with a bit of a hangover, a trip to the local shop will furnish you everything you\'d need for a home cooked, traditional breakfast, ready for a day of exploring the Yorkshire Dales! Ashknott Cottage is a lovely place, a real home from home, and the ideal base for a weekend in the Dales!

We've been twice now and could not have been made more welcome or had a more comfortable stay, The cottage itself is cosy and well-appointed which is useful in inclement weather. The situation is excellent for exploring the dales and there are sufficient local amenities to be able to buy food, etc., for a really comfortable existence without leaving the village. Sarah's local knowledge is invaluable and we would recommend several visits in order to explore all of her recommendations!
