Alvey House, Golf Course Road, Newtonmore, Highlands, PH20 1AT

Description of the holiday cottage

Alvey House is a large nine bedroom holiday house in Newtonmore, Highland, sleeping up to nineteen guests. Set in the Cairngorms National Park, it is a strong choice for larger families, walking groups, special gatherings or friends looking for a spacious self catering stay in the Scottish Highlands.

The house has nine bedrooms and nine bathrooms, giving larger groups useful space and flexibility during their stay. The bedroom layout includes a mix of double, twin, single and family rooms, with many of the bedrooms having en suite shower rooms. There are also ground floor bedrooms, which may be helpful for guests who prefer fewer stairs, although anyone with specific access needs should check the full layout before booking.

The living areas are well suited to group holidays, with room for guests to eat together, relax in separate spaces and enjoy quieter evenings after days out in the Highlands. Practical features include WiFi, Sky TV, dishwasher, washing machine, open fires, garden space and off road parking. The open fires add extra character in colder months, especially after walking, cycling or sightseeing around the Cairngorms.

The location is one of the main reasons to consider Alvey House. Newtonmore has local shops, pubs, places to eat, a golf course and Highland village surroundings, while Kingussie, Aviemore, Loch Insh, Highland Wildlife Park and the wider Cairngorms National Park are all within reach. Guests can enjoy walking, cycling, wildlife watching, mountain scenery, watersports, skiing in season and scenic drives through the Highlands.

Alvey House is pet friendly, although guests should check the latest pet rules before booking, including the number of dogs allowed, any charges and whether restrictions apply in certain rooms or garden areas. Before arranging a stay, it is also worth checking the latest prices, availability, parking details, fire use, access notes, review scores and booking terms through the cottage provider, as these can change throughout the year.

Help Other Large Groups Plan Their Stay at Alvey House

Reviews of Alvey House can be especially helpful because larger properties need to work well in practice, not just on paper. If you have stayed here, share what you thought of the bedroom layout, en suite bathrooms, kitchen space, dining areas, sitting rooms, open fires, parking, garden, dog friendly details and how the house worked for a large group. It is also useful to mention how easy it was to walk into Newtonmore, visit Aviemore, explore the Cairngorms or plan days out across the Highlands, as these details can help future guests decide whether Alvey House is right for their own group holiday.
