Description of the holiday cottage
The Shippon is a beautifully restored 14th century stone farm building in Wheddon Cross, Somerset. Set in a secluded valley in the heart of beautiful Exmoor National Park, the property has been carefully converted into comfortable holiday accommodation that offers lovely views across its cobbled yard and and duck pond. It is ideally located for those wishing to explore Exmoor, being around 20 minutes from many of the primary moorland attractions, including Dunkery, Tarr Steps, Dulverton, Dunster, Wimbleball Lake, and even provides stabling and grazing services that allow guests to bring their horse on holiday too!
2 bedrooms (one king-sized double and one twin)
Open plan kitchen and sitting room with vaulted ceilings, original oak beams, television/DVD player/DAB radio, and large window looking out over duck pond and farmland beyond
Kitchen well fitted with fridge/freezer, microwave, electric oven and hob, plus toaster, kettle, variety of kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery, and glasses
Bathroom with shower over bath, toilet, and hand basin
Wifi, electricity, and biomass boiler-fueled central heating included in price, plus basket of logs and kindling
Bed linen, duvets, blankets, and towels provided. (Please bring own beach towels for day trips)
Up to two dogs welcome (supplement of £15 per dog)
Check-in from 4pm, check-out by 10am

- Easy access (approx. 2 miles) to Wheddon Cross with its mini-supermarket, post office, petrol station, and dog-friendly The Rest & Be Thankful Inn which serves food, Exford (also approx. 2 miles), and 12 miles from the comprehensive amenities of Minehead
- Tea, coffee, sugar, milk, and biscuits provided, plus non-perishable items like salt, pepper, and herbs/spices, and household sundries such as washing up liquid, dishwasher powder, surface cleaner, and toilet rolls. The water supply comes from a natural spring, filtered using UV light to negate the use of chemicals
- Iron, ironing board, and hairdryer provided, and clothes airer available upon request
