Description of the holiday cottage

The Old Sweet Shop is a quintessentially English “chocolate box” cottage located in the quietest and prettiest part of the coastal town of Minehead, Somerset. A spacious 4-bedroom thatched cottage dating back to the seventeenth century, the property has served many purposes over the years, the most notable of which lent this delightful cottage its name. An extensive and sympathetic restoration has maximised interior space and light and provided a beautiful sweeping staircase, impressive beams, and large fireplace, plus a truly luxurious hot tub to unwind in after a good day’s Exmoor exploration. This is holiday accomodation in which the old complements the new, making for a top-notch destination for larger families or groups of up to 8 friends.

• 4 bedrooms (one ground floor king-sized ensuite double, one further ground floor double with distinctive bay window, one luxurious first floor king-sized ensuite double with roll top bath, and one first floor ensuite twin with large shower)   

• Ground floor sitting room with large wood burning fireplace; large wooden mantelpiece; charming mullion lead-framed windows; pretty seats and comfortable sofas and armchairs; flat screen smart TV with Sky, Netflix, and Blu-ray DVD player; and selection of films, books, jigsaws, games, and toys

• Spacious ground floor kitchen/diner with large cooker, high-spec appliances, plenty of work and storage space, dining area with large oak table comfortably seating eight, and views into the garden

• Ground floor utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, and fridge/freezer, plus high chair and vacuum

• Bed linen and towels provided (please bring own beach towels for hot tub use)

• Wi-fi, heating, and electricity included in cost

• Pets welcome (max. 2, no additional supplement)

• Check-in from 4pm, check-out by 10am
