Description of the holiday cottage
The Hay Store awarded the acolade of Gold by Enjoy England, has a real 'wow' factor, with its ‘Queen’s’ trusses exposed and being open to the rafters in the open plan living area, kitchen and dining area.. Whilst the cottage has since its conversion been graded right at the absolute top end of four star, (maximum points within a 17 point band) we have just received notification out of the blue that the cottage has received the Gold Award, an award from Enjoy England, the country’s official grading organisation, one of a really small number of over 1000 inspected properties in Derbyshire to receive this, awarded in respect of ‘the provision of exceptional quality in all areas but in particular in service’. The picture does not do this non-smoking pet free holiday let justivce as having been taken with a wide angle lens, it makes the room seem much smaller than it actually is.Best Features
Despite the gold award and really brilliant character, its actually: Location, location, location! We really can't be beaten for that. This cottage and the four others are on a 12 acre non-working farm (with two wild-flower meadows) surrounded by a nature reserve through which a footpath leads on its way to the famous River dove. Numerous footpaths surround the farm, offering unrivalled walking in the best part of the White Peak, Excellent cycling can be hand on the many lanes in the area, or one one of the 3 former railway lines of average 15 miles in length, all within 3 miles of us, or on Sustrans national route 54 which using mainly bridleways passes within 80 yards of the end of our drive, perhaps using our hired bikes available to our guests(only) at about one half of the commercial companies. However, quite apart from the great outdoors, there is almost certainly more attractions to see or things to do, within say 40 minutes drive of our cottages than anywhere else in the UK.
Two much commented aspect of this and 4 other cottages at Cotterill Farm is firstly the standard of housekeeping and secondly the 8 highly personalised information folders, which must be amngst the best in the business (certainly every Tourist Board inspector we have had over the last dozen years has said they are the best they have ever seen)
