Cottage Review:

Fabulous cottage in the most beautiful Scottish highlands! It is the best cottage I have ever stayed at! It has everything you need for a family holiday or a couples getaway! The scenery and wildlife is stunning, we saw roe deer in the evening, eagles during the day and otters whilst fishing.

The facilities are first class, bedrooms all fitted out with lovely comfy mattresses and smart TVs. The bathroom is bigger than my kitchen at home, taking a bath was the most relaxing experience listening to the birds outside. The kitchen living area was perfect for cooking and we even had a bbq in the garden, hosting our friends!

The host Mrs Morrison couldn?t be more attentive, we received warm fresh scones on arrival and a bottle of wine! We had a slight problem with our car and Mr Morrison even came over and fix our fault! Overall a fantastic week in the most magical part of Scotland. I will definitely be booking again for another holiday! 10/10

I also agreed with the following statements from the most recent reviewer.

a) there is now high speed Wifi in the property, b) we saw no sign of activity at the woodchip plant (in any case it is quite some distance away), c) we didn't see any HGV traffic throughout the week, d) there is a new electricity sub-station but it is miles away.

Cottage Review:

Lovely cottage, but ruined by the development directly opposite - a huge, wood-burning woodchip production plant. Noise, smoke and totally unsightly. Sadly with the wind being mostly from the west, it means the cottage was often cloaked in smoke, which made sitting outside impossible. Also, the road is very close and the timber lorries and quarry trucks caused a lot of alarm as they passed by at speed.

We had a wonderful stay at the auld Kirk, beautiful scenery, lovely cottage inside and out. Couldn?t have asked for a more clean and welcoming place to stay! Mrs Morrison put some little books and a teddy for my youngest to read and play with also the frustration game which we had hours of fun playing with our eldest. Lovely weather too which helped!

Former church beautifully renovated to a very high standard. Location is 4 miles from the coast in a lovely rural spot. Our children loved the house as we did.

We were welcomed with freshly baked scones, jam and cream with a lovely bottle of red wine.

The house is well equipped so great for cooking an evening meal, we took our own however plenty of tea, coffee etc

All rooms are comfortable and spacious with loads of storage, all have TVs with sky tv and DVD players.

House was spotless, there were 2 ensuite shower rooms and a large bathroom with a walk i

The Auld Kirk is located about 30 minutes from Thurso in far north Scotland. It is in rather an isolated spot (no wifi and only intermittent phone coverage at best) and although the view across the valley is quite nice, the closeness to an electricity sub station is a concern.

The cottage itself has been nicely renovated and offers two decent sized bedrooms, both with lovely ensuites as well as a great family bathroom with a huge bath. The kitchen is well stocked (although the cutlery was a bit hard to find). The lounge is comfortable with a large TV, and

We stayed here for a week and loved this place. It is a newly renovated church that has been done up to a really high standard. Really well insulated so we were warm and cosy as the winds blew outside. It is really spacious and lovely decor and has everything you need. Really lovely bedrooms and luxurious bathrooms. We felt so spoilt staying here. To top it off, the views from the windows of the cottage where beautiful and stunning as the cottage has picture perfect highland scenery all around. We would love to go back.

Last week of July we stayed a week in the Auld Kirk. The house was spotless, the kitchen well appointed and the shower just great (altough we only used one out of three). Upon arrival there were scones waiting for us as well as a bottle of wine.

The area the house is situated in is beautiful. There were flying a lot of birds although we did not see any merlins.
