We are actually staying in Solway Cottage right now & this is our 2nd visit second and it won't be our last either, it is absolutely fabulous just like the first time we stayed here but the new sofas are soooo comfy and the view from them is just incredible as you are looking straight out over the water & looking right across to Scotland, honestly the views are STUNNING with sunsets that take your breath away. You even have your own set of steps down to the estuary which is so lovely to walk along but be careful as there are sinking sands in parts and watch the tide as it is very fast but it is brilliant to watch with all the birdlife on the waters edge ,t he cottage has everything that you could need and has its own parking too which is always bonus. The little pub in the village is great and the food is fabulous too and the staff are so friendly. We cannot recommend Solway Cottage enough, Bill & Pasty really do work hard to keep everything so beautiful here. Many Thanks Jules & Stuart x

We managed to book this cottage last minute thanks to someone cancelling - and how lucky were we!

This place was just perfect. The photos don?t do it justice - the views from the lounge and bedrooms are just incredible. This cottage has everything you need. Fully equipped kitchen, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, lovely outdoor furniture & BBQ. Ånd so much more. Books, games, maps, 3 TVs. And everything spotlessly clean.

Bill & Patsy the owners could not have been more helpful or friendly. Information prior to arrival and whilst we were there was spot on. They really have done such a fab job with this place.

If you can tear yourself away from the view, there?s so many local walks and a really good pub close by (Kings Arms). We also ventured into Scotland a few times as well as driving through the northern Lake District.

And finally, the sunsets were just amazing. A perfect home from home .

Just returned from a 3 night family Easter break & this place is amazing! It has everything you need & spotlessly clean. The owners make you feel very welcome. The pictures on the website do not do it justice. We planned on venturing out to visit different places but didn?t get in the car once! The ever changing views are fantastic & was so peaceful & relaxing. Had some lovely walks along the coastline, the kids thoroughly enjoyed bog jumping! (Nearly lost their trainers.) Went for some food at the Kings Arms pub & would recommend the food, especially the pizzas. Would definitely recommend a stay here & will hopefully return one day.

Writing this on our last night, we all feel so sad to be leaving! Even though we only came for 3 nights it has been a perfect, relaxing getaway. The one thing that I?ll miss the most is the amazing view from the cottage, just beautiful at all times of the day.

The cottage itself is fantastic, has everything touch could wish for plus more. Felt like a home away from home. It?s clean, modern, comfortable and homely.

This was our first time to the area, we loved exploring and going on walks. We will definitely be coming back to stay here!

We?ve raved about this cottage so much that my auntie is going to book it too!

Thank you so much we have had a great stay!!

Luxury cosy cottage in an area of outstanding beauty. This is the perfect retreat when you feel the urge to recharge. From booking to arriving to staying there -everything was stress-free. The view is outstanding and good to watch in all weathers. Recommend that you bring your basic provisions (or stop in ASDA at Carlisle) as the village does not have a shop. The village does have a decent walkers pub in the Kings Arms which serves good food and great beer. The cottage itself is exceedingly well equipped - loads of crockery, full range of tip-top appliances- and felt like a home from home. There books, maps, walking routes, DVD, CDs and board games to keep you entertained. The wi-fi is free but does drop away sometimes, which is a good excuse to step away from the e-mail or the game station! The beds are exceptionally comfy and come complete with an electric blanket. The coastal walk from the doorstep of the cottage is lovely and there are plenty of interesting day-trips within 40 mins drive. The owners live next door and are very helpful and work hard to keep the cottage in tip-top condition.

Had a wonderful week away here - views are amazing and can't get over how high spec this cottage is - the kitchen is better equipped than our own!

The huge glass doors allow you to enjoy the scenery even in poor weather and the high quality TVs, bluray, sound systems etc. mean you will be entertained in all weathers!

Would recommend:

Nearby RSPB Campfield Marsh reserve

Wallsend Tea Rooms (Bowness)

Kings Arms (Bowness)

Hope and Anchor (nearby Port Carlisle - locally sourced food, gorgeous meals and amazing homemade desserts)

Just returned from the most amazing cottage probably the best we have ever stayed in. More equipment than you could ever need or use during the week more than home from home. The cottage was spotless and had good quality fittings bright and airy. The little gifts a lovely touch. The owners we lovely and very helpful.

The best thing though has to be the private patio offering us every changing views wonderful wildlife and stunning sunsets a photographers paradise. With excellent walks from your doorstep this has to be a not to be missed cottage if you enjoy peace and quiet.

This is a lovely cottage perched above the Solway Firth. Stunning views, especially the sunsets. Inside the cottage is comfortable and welcoming, well furnished with all you need for a self catering break. The deck acts almost as an additional outside room with comfortable furniture and BBQ. The owners live next door and provided a warm and friendly welcome. As a person with some mobility problems I was also well catered for, with no more that one step between the house and deck and into the shower. Only wee thing I missed was a supportive chair in the livi

This house lived up to everything it said it was so well equipped .

The owners never bother you and the views from the patio area are stunning.

We never closed the blinds all week because every evening as the sun set was like looking at a different painting.

The bedrooms were very comfy and it was almost disabled friendly, the only draw back was if it rained and we wanted to eat my wife couldn't get on the bar stools to eat at the worktop she had to stand. Other than that it was a fantastic property to stay in .

The property was in a very remote area with th

This property is fitted out to a very high level of quality and the location in an elevated position over the Solway Firth is idyllic. Everything you could want facility wise, is there. In March despite the windy weather at times the cottage was always warm and cosy. We planned a number of trips out but didn't stir far when the shoreline and surrounding villages were so interesting. I would recommend that any visitor read the book on the History of the Solway Firth from Bill's extensive "library". This lead us to Burgh by Sands to see the church where Edwar
