Description of the cottage holiday

Welcome to Sandbed Cottage. Visit England 4 star, our family-run self-catering holiday accommodation for up to 4 people (plus cot) in the Upper Eden Valley, a region of outstanding natural beauty in the spectacular Yorkshire Dales National Park. The beautiful Howgill Fells completely surround the cottage which is stone-built with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. The slopes of Harter Fell lie directly on the doorstep and the magnificent limestone pavements lie on the other side of the dale. We are lucky to enjoy such an enviable location amid rolling Cumbrian fells and we encourage our guests to sample everything this beautiful area has to offer. Our aim is to provide all our guests with a first class experience. We are dog-friendly. If, prior to your visit, you have any questions or concerns please get in touch and we will do everything we can to help. ACCOMMODATION Sandbed cottage is a delightful mix of old and new with exposed beams, comfortable furnishings and a modern fully equipped kitchen. It is fully refurbished to provide a very high standard of accommodation in an open plan setting. A log burner provides a focal point in a homely environment. The cottage enjoys high speed fibre optic broadband together with digital TV and DVD player with a selection of discs. The fully equipped kitchen has low beams and a stone window sill with a view of our many bird feeders. Red squirrels are native to this area of Cumbria and are frequent visitors to the feeders. A French door opens onto a patio area with panoramic views of the surrounding fells. This is a great place to enjoy a morning coffee before heading out for the day or to enjoy a relaxing glass of wine on your return.

ACTIVITIES

The Howgill Fells are on our doorstep and you do not need to drive at all in order to enjoy good walking amid beautiful Cumbrian scenery. The undulating terrain is more gentle than the central Lake District fells and all levels of fitness are catered for. Additional walking is just a short drive away in the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District.

Nearby towns and villages such as Kirkby Stephen, Sedbergh and Ravenstonedale offer much of interest as well as a wide selection of places to eat.

Golf, horse riding and fishing can be enjoyed nearby as well as cycling, mountain biking and bird watching.

The scenic Settle-Carlisle Railway is just few miles away from Sandbed Cottage. Tickets for round trips between Settle and Carlisle can be purchased on board the train and offer a great day out with wonderful views of spectacular Cumbrian scenery.

Sandbed Cottage provides amazing views and a rural location that combine to ensure our guests will always have fond memories of this very special place and will want to return, time and time again. A wonderful cottage to be enjoyed at any time of the year.

Cottage Review: The Cottage is in a fabulous setting surrounded by the fells. Great walks from the door. Feel privliged to have seen the start of the spring & lambing season. loved seeing the red squirrels on the feeder near the cottage.
