Quern Barn, Combwich, Somerset,

Description of the self catering property

Quern Barn in Combwich is set at the end of Combwich village, right next to the Parrett Trail, an ancient stone barn beautifully converted into a pretty cottage. Snug behind the owners pretty farmhouse, it has rural views of an orchard and horse paddock (which you are welcome to wander and make use of the summer house - good views of the estuary, Brent Knoll and Wales beyond) and also a busy wildlife pond (unfenced). A very peaceful spot. One hundred yards from the cottage is access to the recently created 400 hectare Steart Peninsula wetland nature reserve with panoramic viewpoints and wildlife observation hides, excellent for cycling, walking and birdwatching. Inside Quern Barn in Combwich, all on one level, lots of light, clean lines and contemporary furniture. Open-plan living/dining area with TV/DVD, beams to apex and French windows (step) to small, enclosed garden (table/chairs, good for morning sun). Neatly fitted kitchen (dishwasher, microwave). Two bedrooms including a double, and a twin. Shower-room (wet-room suite). Utility area (washing machine) in neighbouring barn. No children under 8, except pre-crawling babies. A great year-round spot for a relaxing break and fantastic for bird watching.

Cottage Review:

Fantastic gem tucked away near the river Parret. Really comfortable and friendly owners. Very quiet with lovely views over the paddocks. Great to watch their beautiful horse in the paddock and seeing the owner ride him daily. Best treat seeing visiting badgers that the owners encourage by putting out peanuts. Great place to go for long walks along the river particularly if you have a dog. Also near the WWT reserve with loads of visiting birds certain times of the year. Highly recommend.
