Cottage Review:
The owner was kind enough to meet us and let us in, and though we were only staying for a couple of nights, we were treated to a Christmas tree, chocolates, wood for the stove - the works. All of this combined with the snow-covered fields made it feel very special, and a great way to round off our Christmas holidays. We kept remarking how the cottage was like a tardis, compact on the outside, spacious on the inside. The decor was pretty and modern, but the stone walls, the steep staircase and the old stone trough at the window all recalled its past life as |

Cottage Review:
We had a difficulty locating this cottage as the "Traveller's Rest" pub on the instructions turned out to be called "The Knight's Table"! A recent name change it seems but very confusing nevertheless. The cottage was excellent, nicely decorated, clean and tidy, comfortable beds, lovely bathroom and a very nice welcome pack which was much appreciated. We were lucky with the weather and we were able to make the most of the amazing views. Lots to do around the area and we enjoyed a couple of good walks, just wish I had taken my bike! Highly recommended. |

Cottage Review:
This cottage is a superb place to stay. The rooms are large and furnished to a high standard, maintaining a homely feel. We rented through Sykes Cottages, but also met the owner, who explained the history and how he renovated the cottage. He was also very thoughtful and accommodating, in that he cleared the deep snow with a JCB - so that we could enter the house! We had a wonderful week and would certainly recommend it to others. Buxton and Leek are close by and there are interesting local walks. The New Inn at Flash, serves great beer and is a traditional |

Cottage Review:
Booking through Sykes was an entirely pleasant procedure. The directions to the property arrived by email and were perfect and the owner was very easily contacted by phone as arranged once we were close.Thick fog hampered our attempts to locate the cottage but the owner came within 5 mins and parked at the drive entrance to guide us. The cottage has been very recently renovated to a very high standard and is perfectly equipped - even including a blanket for the winter evenings, a huge supply of wood for the woodburner, chocolates and wine. There is simple but well-chosen decor and furnishing throughout. The house was also immaculately clean, the kind of clean I never quite achieve at home. The beds were already made up - great after a day at work and long journey and again smelt fresher than I have ever managed.Towels were also provided. The cottage above anything else was very very comfortable. The shop and pub are a 4-5 minute walk. Local maps and walk books are provided in the cottage should you need them and, hallelujah! - tupperware so you can take a picnic (this always gets top marks in a holiday cottage). There are literally endless possiblities for walks from the door but only a 5 -10 minute drive to the spectacular 'Parkhouse and Chrome Hill' and Thor's cave a little further. Buxton about 15 minutes. The owner could not have been more helpful and the cottage could not have been better. We are already thinking about our return. |
