Description of the holiday cottage

Heyden Cottage in Bratton is one and a half miles west of Minehead, above Bratton hamlet, a classic Exmoor cottage, detached and set in 150 acres of mixed-leaf woodland (red deer, birdsong, walks, whortleberries).

Enclosed orchard for you to enjoy. No other houses visible, so wonderful night skies free of light pollution. Along 200 yards of private, uneven drive from the road and set in a clearing, the cottage is comfortable, light and contemporary with tiled floors downstairs, original artwork and long views from all rooms across the valley to fields and heather moorland.

Heyden Cottage in Bratton has a big fitted kitchen/dining room (dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer) with sofa, big windows and woodburner. Living room (open fire, no TV). Downstairs shower-room and separate loo. Upstairs, three bedrooms including a double bedroom, a twin, and a single; bathroom (suite with separate shower), all accessed by steep stairs from either the kitchen or living room.

The original wash house (washing machine, sink) has plenty of space for wet coats, boots, bicycles and dogs. Small suntrap courtyard (table/chairs) and, up steep steps, more seating with views. Spring water. A unique place to stay: great for walkers, mountain biking and accessible solitude.

Cottage Review:   "Our Christmas holiday plans were disrupted due to the bad weather and Helpful Holidays, Angie the Caretaker at Heyden, and Heyden's owner could not have been more obliging, so we were able to "adjust" our timings rather than abandon plans altogether! And we are so glad that we did...Heyden Cottage is delightful; spacious yet cosy, and very well set up for a rural retreat with all mod-cons and comforts. The situation is fantastic - in a clearing on a wooded slope, tranquil but not too remote. We shall return in the summer, when hopefully it will be full of b
