Glenridding Cottage is decorated, furnished and equipped to a very high standard. Chocolate cake, wine, eggs, milk and dog treats welcomed us. Allyson is a fantastic host and nothing is too much trouble. The gardens are beautiful, very safe for dogs, we enjoyed a bbq. The cottage is ideally situated to explore Yorkshire and The Lakes. Kirby Stephen is a short drive away and would recommend The Black Bull, very dog and people friendly, The Mango Tree serves great Indian food and a fab bakery on the high street. We enjoyed a fantastic meal at The Bay Horse, Winton, again, a short drive away. We had such a relaxing holiday, would highly recommend.

This is the forth time we have visited this lovely gem of a cottage tucked away in the beautiful Eden Valley, close to both the Lake District and North Yorkshire attractions. From the moment we arrived we were greeted as always by the owners Allyson and Mark who are always so welcoming and super hosts. The cottage is large, spotlessly clean and very well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a wonderful stay. The pretty dog secure garden is perfect for sitting and enjoying the sun while taking in the stunning countryside views. Cannot wait until we can visit again!

Cottage Review:

This rural cottage was one of the best equipped places I've stayed in a long time. Cleanliness was 5* . You would never know a dog had stayed here. Gardens are beautiful, All rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished. The little snug behind the kitchen was lovely to sit there and watch the animals in the fields.or chill with a good book and glass of wine. the log fire made it so cosy in an evening. It was a good base for walks and easy access to lakes and local villages. We will definately be staying here again, Alison and Mark couldn't have been nicer. Read an unfavorable review before going, so glad we ignored it. some people will complain about anything.

Cottage Review:

We were looking for a remote dog friendly cottage and we found possibly the best cottage we have ever stayed in.

Allyson met us on arrival and armed with 20 questions for her, we found the best places to eat, shop, local walk for the boys (2 x Westies) She is a mind of info and well worth spending half an hour in her company.

The Cottage is so beautifully decorated and equipped. Though there was only the 2 of us and we used very little in the way of kitchen equipment and rooms, there is so much the property has to offer. Great doggie wet room.....for rubbing down wet paws after a days walk in The Pennines or The Lakes. Washing machine. Spare towels. Cupboard fully stocked with every game you can think of to while away a wet dull afternoon. Welcome gifts for two and four legged guests....amazing cake and bottle of shiraz and tin of doggie treats, Allyson thinks of everything to welcome you to their cottage.

The Snug...a small 1 seated room to sit and look out at the view is a must. My treat every morning with a coffee. Archie our puppy loved the view also albeit the local sheep was his interest! The garden has 2 areas with the bottom being fully enclosed even for the most inquisitive Westie! It would of

been lovely to seen the garden at it's best mid summer with all of the plants, shrubs and containers in full bloom. But unfortunately October weather took the best out of the blooms.

Fully equipped kitchen, Allyson has thought of everything. 6 seater dining table. Dishwasher. Fridge freezer. Microwave. Guest Information book and pamphlets on local visitor sites. Take time to read Guest Information book. It gives you everything you need to know on the property and the local area.

A stair gate at the bottom of the stairs kept the boys downstairs at night, usually they sleep in our room and it's in the House Rules no dogs on beds. We are in someone else's home and respect their wishes. Excellent addition. Other dog friendly properties need to adopt.

3 x bedrooms and as I mentioned only the 2 of us so we only used the king size room. Very comfortable and tastefully decorated as were the other 2. Bathroom also well decorated with over bath shower, ample hot water.

Living room saw a woodburner fully stocked ready to fire up and plenty of coal sticks and wood if needed.

The Cottage is located in a no through road hamlet containing about a dozen other homes. Horses and sheep are your neighbours with plenty of rabbits on their walk to send the boys into a frenzy!

Parking for 1 and advise to park tight to the wall.

All in all, this is by far the best cottage we have stayed in with Allyson and Mark always ready for a chat over the fence.

Would we recommend? I think my review says it all.

Cottage Review:

Had a wonderful week at Glenridding Cottage with our family and two dogs. The cottage is decorated to a high standard and is a home from home. The garden is beautiful

and fully enclosed, so safe for our dogs. The snug was a favourite to sit in with a coffee looking out at the garden and the Pennines in the distance.

The location was excellent, with a main road nearby and easy access to the Lake District, Pennines or Yorkshire Dales, you really are spoilt for choice. Even when the weather was bad, it was nice to spend the day in front of the log burner watching dvds and playing games.

The kitchen was well equipped and all rooms were and excellent size and very clean; it is clear that the owners put a lot of effort and care into the property. The owners were very friendly and always on hand to help, weather it be directions to local shops or advise on parking at nearby villages. Their dogs were lovely, and our children loved meeting them over the gate.

An excellent cottage, welcoming owners and perfect location which we will definitely be revisiting very soon.

Cottage Review:

I feel slightly guilty writing this as I can see that Alision pours her heart into this place but hear me out.

The Cottage itself is stunning probably one of the nicest ones I've ever stayed in, it was well equipped and had everything you could possibly need, it's clear it's very dog friendly. It's a short distance from so many things so coming as a family is highly recommended.

So why the negative review?

Well as soon as we arrived we were warmly welcomed by Alision which was great. Her Husbands first words to me were are you going to look after it? Id taken this as a poor attempt at humour. Once we settled in to the cottage which was spotless we read through the rules which stipulated that pets were not to be left in the property regardless of how well behaved. So I decided to check if there was any flex in this by just inquiring with the owners. Mark was very rude out of order the way he spoke to me. I mearly explained the pets were very well behaved and would just sleep and one suffered heavily with Arthritis his words and I quote "Not My Problem Mate" "It's Not A Kennel" and finally "They are our rules and we're sticking to them" again be mindful I was only asking if it was possible as it wasn't stipulated on the website on the booking page (I later read that its part of the T&C with Sykes.) Alison later came across and explained why we couldn't leave the pets as it had been previously been damaged by previous guests pets. Again this would of been fine if said in the first place without the attitude and rudeness from Mark. Unfortunately the week then gained a very nasty atmosphere from Mark who would stand at his back door smoking and glaring across at us. This led to us not wanting to make any contact with the owners to request anything like the BBQ. Again I must relay, Alison was very polite and helpful. All of the above could of been avoided with just a little bit more appreciation for the guest, the whole experience has left me disappointed and underwhelmed. For future guests please be aware the cottages requires a really heavy deep clean before you leave, the on site guest guide stipulates all floors are to be hoovered/mopped and pet hair found in the property must be removed and if the condition of the cottage isn't satisfactory from the owner they will raise a £50 charge through Sykes against the guests.

Feedback for the owners would be.

Consider raising the fence between the properties to give people a degree of privacy.

Consider reducing the amount of rules within the book. Never leave a fine threat in the welcome book.

BBQ should always be in the garden with a cover over it so people can use it without having to approach the owners.

Again I feel guilty for this type of review because it isn't nice to write especially when I can see the effort Alison goes to. See my words as feedback to make your guests experience as amazing as it should be.

Cottage Review:

Lovely cottage which we will certainly be staying in again.

Right near the main road but far enough away, with hills inbetween, to not even know the road was there.

The front of the cottage also faces a paddock where you can sit in the lovely front garden and watch the horses graze.

The house is really nicely set out. Holidaying with dogs can be problematic but this place is made for it. The owners are dog friendly and have their own dogs next door. The house has a boot room for throwing muddy dogs and can be accessed via the kitchen so you dont have to worry about messing the living room up.

The kitchen is very spacious and even has a 'reading' room off it with a picture window overlooking the lovely rear garden and the fields behind it.

Due to having two big dogs I have to worry about the security of the gardens when visiting rentals but this place is made for dogs. There is a large, high fenced section for the dogs to roam or sunbathe and then a separate further garden for people only. Absolutely ideal to let the dogs out in a secure area in the morning to do their ablutions.

The living room is really cosy but big enough for 6 and with a lovely iron stove which the owners top up with fuels for a small fee.

All the bedrooms are very spacious and light and the decor of the whole cottage is modern but with cottage character.

Cottage Review:

We recently spent a week at the Glenridding cottage for a family vacation along with our two dogs. Finding a cottage that allows a couple of dogs can be diffcult but Glenridding welcomes them with open arms and the dogs are made just as welcome as their owners, there were some nice little touches for the dogs. There were also a few little warm welcome touches for the humans too.

The rooms are all very clean and well equiped. We used the oven/dishwasher a few times and everything was straight forward to use. There is a fire place in the sitting room that was

We recently stayed at this cottage for 1 week (3 adults, 2 kids and 1 dog). The cottage is very clean and has everything you would need. We liked the wood burning fire in the lounge. There is a small reading snug which was so relaxing with a great view. Large utility room with washer/ironing board etc. This was a great room to dump all your coats and boots when you came back from a long walk. The cottage is a short drive to lots of great places like The Lakes, The Yorkshire Dales and many country villages etc. The owners, Allyson ad Mark next door were very

Spacious cottage in North Pennines and easy for Ullswater. Décor, furniture and gardens are lovely. The rear garden is large and enclosed with views of hills, also containing a gas bbq. Bedrooms are a good size with plenty of storage. Nice little snug to sit and read or browse, which is just off the kitchen. Large utility room, which is great for the dog.

Don't think that this place will be tatty because of dogs, its not, its spotless.

The Wi-Fi is excellent too.
