Description of the holiday cottage
Aynsome Manor Park lies a half mile from the village of Cartmel, located on the Cartmel Peninsular, and surrounded by rolling hills that tumble down to the coast. The village is picture perfect, with ancient buildings, an impressive medieval priory, a towering arch and a sweet, clear river, all centred on the village square. There are good local walks, notable Hampsfell and Eggerslack wood, a limestone fell, where the summit gives panoramic views of the Morecambe Bay and the Lake District Mountains.Sleeps: from 0 to 2

| Cottage Review:
We have just returned from Ducklings Retreat and have enjoyed a relaxing week. the cottage is well equipped, spotlessly clean and well presented. However, I would rate it as 4 stars, not 5. The view from the window is far from pretty as looks down at the shabby back entrances of other cottages. The bed is a double and also quite uncomfortable, most 5 star accommodation would offer a king bed. I admit the room isn't big enough for a king, and we should have noticed when booking; but we had a most uncomfortable weeks sleep. The courtyard is also very disappointing, the fountain didn't appear to be working, and was filled with green stagnant water, most of the very few plants were dead. The area needs perking up with nice flowers and shrubs, the area has no ambience and despite the beautiful sunny weather, we found it dreary to sit there with a drink, and went out every evening. If none of the mentioned downsides bothers you I would say its a very nice place to stay. |
