Croft House Barn, dating from at least the 17th Century, is the result of sympathetic renovations to what was once the barn to the owners' attached former farmhouse. Owner-managed, the cottage is well-tended and maintained, with someone usually on hand if needed! It is set back from the lane in the tranquil conservation hamlet of Waterfall. The Red Lion village pub, with home cooked food and ales is a two minute stroll. Bird-feeders and bee and butterfly friendly flower borders, provide wildlife interest and colour outside. Close to areas of outstanding natural beauty such as the Manifold cycle/walking trail, Dovedale and The Roaches, the cottage is in an ideal location for relaxing and exploring. Alton Towers Theme Park and historic market towns, Ashbourne and Leek are also a 20 mins drive or less.

Cottage Review:
We first stayed at Croft House Barn 7 years ago and have returned 3 times since. That we have so done is testament to the quality not only of the accommodation but also the welcoming nature of the property's owners. Besides being immaculately presented, charming and comfortable the cottage makes an ideal base for the many surrounding attractions. Moreover it's rural location ensures that there is always something interesting happening in the vicinity (even sheep are fascinating to young eyes!) We will return. |
