Cottage Review:

The cottage is a lot smaller than imagined, small yard with 3 steps going up from outhouse extension which as a fridge, washer/dryer (dryer wasn't working) and sink this was great for storing walking items..the kitchen was well equipped even had small dishwasher (this was a bonus) kids bunk room was also small and hard to tuck the little one in due to bunk beds, personally think it would be better with just a single bed. Windows in here looked like ice cream had been smeared all over and dried in. Bigger bedroom was comfy but banged head each time getting into bed has beam right over one side of bed where you have to walk in a small gap to get to Bathroom Bath ovely and long and hot water was great.. shower not very powerful. Seating area has 2x 2 seater that are quite uncomfortable. With small smart TV in corner. The cottage is in a lovely location with drives to lots of other places in the 20-90 minute mark. I think it's ideal for couples, I think it would be cramped with more than 3 people.. overall it was nice and quaint dogs are welcome and I would stay in this area again. But for the price of this cottage I've stayed in much bigger with more open space and green gardens with patio areas etc for less. I can't fault the cottage as a small quite getaway but personally think the price should be more reasonable to what your getting.

Cottage Review:

A cute barn conversion in a lovely quite area tucked away. On arrival we found a welcome pack of sachets and a full outside bin. The upstairs fire alarm was bleeping and there were no replacement batteries of the type needed to fix it. However the cottage was clean bar some cobwebs and a few pans (which we expect had not been cleaned by the previous guests). There was soap, kitchen roll, foil and dishwasher tablets etc which was handy. But no basic provisions milk/oil/vinegar/fire wood which you usually find. There is a small fridge which doesn?t hold a four pint milk, but there is a second larger fridge through the sitting room in the utility which we used for bulky/family sized items. A clothes horse would have been useful in the wet weather. The cottage is dog and boot friendly, although no dog beds etc were not provided so ensure you bring all you need! The sitting room is cosy with quality curtains but the sofas are small and not particularly comfortable, there are a good selection games etc provided however to keep a family entertained, a good tv and WiFi! The bathroom looks fairly new and has a reliable electric shower but the ventilation is poor in this listed building so there is a mildew problem from guests not opening the window to release the steam. The bunk room is quaint with a mini wardrobe. The master bedroom was nice on first appearance but really smelt of dog and the carpet in need of a clean. I was surprised to find a dog chew behind the side table! There is a nice bed frame but the mattress is cheap and exhausted and not what you would expect in a four star rental which generates a good weekly £ return in peak season! It also had lumpy pillows? It hasn?t been a restful holiday due to this and has been a real bug bearer all week!! Along with the spiders on the beds... and everywhere! Sykes haven?t responded regarding the bed. I will be looking at different agencies going forward as their 4 tick rating is not a good representation of the previous two cottages we hare rented through them.

Well equipped cottage, in a beautiful quiet hamlet. A short walk down a footpath to beautiful views. Great parking outside and lovely interior with period features. Great for sitting out at the back of the house on an evening in the piece and quiet. Fabulous history - the house was once the barn that was owned by John Peel-a local farmer made famous by a local song.

What a beautiful snug little cottage with bags of charm and character. Perfect location for exploring the area around Keswick.

Cottage Review:

lovely little cottage in middle of no where, irbey village was just under a mile away, although there was nothing there... the sites say little shop and pub, well the pub has been shut 6 months and there is a little house that sells eggs and some fresh veg with a donation pot so thats ok, we found nearest village to be Wigton, about 7 miles away and that had a few shops, Spar and things like that so if you run short id recommend that.

The cottage itself was lovely, brand new kitchen and bathroom, very clean, nice enclosed garden out back which was a big plu
