Cottage Review:

The cottage was good and reasonably equipped. Unfortunately the bed was very uncomfortable, to the extent that we cut our holiday short because I could not put up with the pain in my back any longer.

We did not feel that the owners were that bothered about us, as they were not even there when we arrived. As for having the extra touches of having toiletries there was not even a toilet roll in the bathroom.

It is advertised as having a washing machine, this is not in the cottage it is shared with the other cottage and the owner, so you often cannot put your washing in and I did not feel comfortable just leaving it there.

The area is lovely and Kirkcudbright is some where we woud go again.

We have visited three times in a year ( all in the winter) and would go more if we could. Both cottages are spacious, comfortable and clean. You can walk out from the farm. Beautiful coastlines and hills nearby. Good for walking, mountain biking (seven stanes) and relaxing. Shops and pubs nearby.

Cottage Review:

We have stayed in many cottages over the last 20+ years, but this is the best. It is both well equipped, clean and comfortable and the owners are very mindful to do all they can to ensure a good holiday, from a homemade cake and a bottle of wine to welcome you, to being flexible and helpful when needs be. It is a cottage where you can relax in peaceful surroundings with good views or a well placed base to explore all the area has to offer. There are good walks from the farm and Kirkcudbright is only a 10 minute drive away for all you need. An excellent, peaceful retreat.

Make up of party:  A couple, of whom the wife has some disabilities, but we have also stayed with our son here too.

Superlative accommodation and very family friendly. Isobel and Marc could not be more helpful. We love it here. Barcloy more than fulfilled our expectations.

Make up of party:  This was our third visit to Barcloy we have previously visited with our three children and with the three children Grandma and Uncle. The last visit was Mum, Dad, three children (8,7 & 5) plus baby boy (ten weeks)

Comfortable, clean, practical and well equipped. We felt as if we were in a home from home, tastefully done out but not so that we felt at all uptight about being there with our young children. Owners were very helpful - they really wanted us to enjoy our stay and get the most out of the holiday. Loved it.
