Apple Barn Cottage, High Street, Burton Bradstock, Dorset, DT6 4QA

Description of the self catering property

Apple Barn Cottage is a Grade II listed thatched stone cottage situated in the heart of pretty Burton Bradstock with its narrow twisting lanes, picturesque river walks and the stunning Jurassic coast, beach and cliffs a mere couple of minutes walk away. The cottage was built some 350 years ago in this lovely conservation village which is an ideal location for both country and coastal lovers. It is within a short walking distance of two ‘centuries old’ public houses, both with restaurants, a quaint village post office and a village shop. Nearby Chesil beach is 5 minutes walk from the cottage and has stunning cliff views with an award winning beach restaurant serving a variety of food and drinks whilst providing a very pleasant location overlooking the sea. An outing to West Bay, which is less than 2 miles away, gives you a chance to explore the colourful fishing harbour and to sample some of the locally caught crabs and lobsters. Bridport, with its busy farmers market and twice weekly antiques and collectables market, is just 2 miles away. If you prefer golf, visitors are made welcome throughout the year at nearby Bridport & West Dorset Golf Club. The cottage sleeps 4 and is tastefully furnished and well equipped to 4 star rating. Features include: open wood burning fire(logs provided). Free wireless broadband & sky television (basic package). Ipod/MRP3 player docking station. Egyptian cotton bed linen and towels incl. Well behaved dogs allowed but no smoking humans.

Best Features

Apple Barn Cottage was awarded 4 stars with a Gold Award for Excellence by VisitBritain in November, 2009. Roses around the door, a thatched roof, the beach and cliffs just two minutes walk away and the prettiest conservation village in Dorset! What more could you ask for!

Cottage Review:

Spacious comfortable well equipped cottage in attractive village with good facilities. The only thing it lacked was a quiet outside space where one could sit and enjoy the beautiful weather we experienced. Unfortunately, the cliff path and Burton beach were closed at the time of our visit, following a rock fall, but there is superb clifftop walking a few miles away at Seatown and the best pub grub with a view to enjoy at the Anchor Inn.

We have stayed at the cottage on several occasions winter and summer. In the summer it makes a perfect base to explore the local beaches and a perfect sanctuary to come home to after long walks. In the winter its a perfect retreat were you can sit in front of a log fire and shut the world outside.

This is the holiday cottage everyone wishes for--Apple Barn delivers on every promise and expectation. You only need to bring your clothes! The beds are comfy, the bedding is divine, the kitchen has everything you need, the water's hot and the wifi works a treat. The pubs in the village are excellent and the locals make you feel very welcome if you tell them you're Apple Barn guests. Don't miss the lovely food at The Hive Beach Cafe either! The beach and cliff walks are lovely and if you're looking for golf, the Bridport & West Dorset Club is 10 minutes away. Can't believe I got this far in the review without mentioning the log fire...mmmm...cosy! Trust me, you'll have the best time at Apple Barn. Just go... and enjoy!
