Cottage Review:

Okay so the cottage location is very ideal and very handy having the two bathrooms but unfortunately I think the good points stop there... I feel very bittersweet because I do love a good cottage with original features etc but I think this one needs a few tweaks or at least to be advertised as just a one bed.... the upstairs bedroom is just not a bedroom? It has a bed but that's about it, it was very, very hot upon arrival and well after trying to get up those steep stairs I just didn't feel safe and the ceiling was full of dirt and spiders webs.

The middle floor bedroom was good for space and added touch of an ensuite is always nice but the bedding was unfortunately dirty in lots of different parts - the quilt cover, the pillow cases and the sheet.

Very good selection of towels and toilet roll provided was a nice touch. I think there should have been hand soap in the bathrooms though.

The windows that do (eventually open with an almighty struggle) do not stay open and again with it being so very hot wasn't nice. I would say there are alot of portable heaters and blankets dotted around for the colder times but no fans?

The kitchen was good for what we needed and nice to have all bowls/cups/cutlery already there. No washing up liquid provided.

The stairs were giving me a heart attack everytime I had to go down them, they are very steep and very narrow - I wouldn't recommend this cottage for people with children or elderly relatives - it really is an accident waiting to happen.

It really was just a pit stop for us for a couple of nights so we made do, don't know how we would have got on if it was longer or we needed to use the cottage more.

WiFi wasn't great and TV kept stopping and starting - very frustrating.

There is an iron but no ironing board and the dining table just felt like it was being held together with 1 screw so we just didn't use it.

As said at the beginning it's great location for beach/pubs but parking (as always though in a seaside town) is a nightmare at peak times but thankfully there are a few options but be prepared to not be able to find a space or have to move a couple of times. We had to use the taxi bay on the main road by the alley way to unpack/pack the car.

DO NOT BOOK THIS - There was bad smell throughout the cottage, the beds wasn't clean smelt like dirty hair smell on pillows. Nothing had P.A.T tested stickers which is a landlords legal responsibility, Carpets up the stairs was dirty and not fixed properly to stairs. Electrics flashing on and off in the en-suite bathroom. stairs to the loft room are really steep the top stair was so deep at least 12ins on its own and carpet not fixed again to these either. the loft is so small the only place to stand is right in the middle and I'm only 5ft 3, to get into bed you basically have to climb in from the bottom. the windows in the loft are so dirty. Oven doesn't work. The arrival pack was some tea bags, a half opened sugar, and some salt and vinegar. NO MILK OR COFFEE. There was damp up the wall by fire place. The consumer board was above the front door not covered in. The wiring was all wrong some surface mounted - dangerous. The outside of the property is a dingy dirty alley, glass all up it, discarded cigarette butts all around the door and mat, bins right outside the front window and people sitting on fire escape out the front of the property smoking and being loud. The whole cottage felt unsafe, dirty and smelly we wanted to leave the day we arrived but when reporting this to the landlord, it was dismissed, they had there monies so no response to problems

Cottage Review:

The cottage itself was a nice little cottage and was clean and tidy upon arrival, key collection was straightforward with a key safe outside. The wood burning stove was very nice and a great feature to the property. We parked in Windsor Terrace which was a 10 min walk from the property, we left the car for several days with no problems. Unfortunately there were a few bad points that let the property down, the door was very stiff and it was difficult to open and close the lock, the WiFi was a pay as you go tariff so we got an initial few Mb of data but this s

After an hour and a half drive we arrived at Whitby.

We couldn?t find a free parking space so we paid. Where they suggested to park there wasn?t any available spaces. This was about a mile away and felt like it wasn?t safe that far away.

We found the cottage up an alleyway, there were lots of industrial bins, teenagers laughing and being loud on some sort of fire escape stairs.

The alleyway went through to the shops.

Entering the property it was quite small.

Over the far side by the Tv was a stain glass window. There was a man leaning his elbow on the w
