Cottage Review:
Clay Street is a remote, picturesque cottage in the middle of the Suffolk countryside, far away from the hustle, noise, and pace of modern life. A few miles from the sleepy towns of Eye and Diss, it's within an hour's drive of the seaside village of Southwold, Levenham, Bungay, and lots of other quaint little spots beside the Broads. Our family of four (including two young children) were blown away by the huge back garden, which is really your own private field, and the big kitchen, conservatory, and two bathrooms. The bedrooms aren't massive, and the upstairs rooms particularly are best suited to young children, but if you want to recreate a Famous Five adventure you won't find a much better setting for it. The hamlet of Thornham Magna has lots of footpaths, forests and streams (the whole of Suffolk does), as well as two pubs and not much else, so you'll need to drive for shopping. The countryside is full of hares, deer, pheasant, grouse, and who knows what else, and the lack of light pollution makes it fantastic for stargazing on a clear night. Our little family loved our stay at the cottage. |
