Cottage Review:

Dirty and tired upstairs holiday flat booked for 2 weeks , stopped for 10 days .

Booked through Sykes.

No designated parking upon arrival because a burger van was being put into position in our car parking space ( rented out by owners) then asked to move our car again on the following Friday to make room for the burger van, we were then sandwiched between a skip and a burger van, and unable to move our car . We were told it was for a couple of hours but it was all night.

Upon entering the property we thought it seemed a lovely clean property but in fact it was filthy in certain areas. The fridge was dirty, the shelves probably health hazard. We had to deep clean the fridge before putting any food away, the two frying pans were unusable even after a 65 Degree wash, they were completely burnt and looked disgusting, so we ended up going out to buy one from wroes local department store. We found casserole dishes in the cupboard that had been put away half dirty so that then prompted us to wash all cutlery and crockery prior to use

We should not have to do this at all especially after a 6 Hour journey, the courtyard was definitely not as picture it was a small pokey area that was dirty. There is artificial grass which?s needs taking up it was absolutely filthy, the decor out there needed cleaning and made into a nice seating area. The plugs in the bathroom sinks hadn?t been cleaned in a very long time, I couldn?t pull any of the debris off , I had to soak them over night in pure bleach . There is unfinished tiling to the main bathroom and would be a safety concern to toddlers, otherwise its not aesthetically pleasing. Window frame in main bathroom was extremely dirty, the main pine step to access the bedrooms and bathrooms is higher than legal limit and therefore more difficult to access. There were wires dangling at the back of the tv , again extremely dangerous for children and looks unsightly, other dirty areas are the patio door frame?s especially when open. All radiators need washing, dust and dirt is evident on the top, behind the microwave was a dead fly and dust too . We did get offered a cleaner by Sykes whilst we were there but be didn?t want any hassle or reprisals from the owners who lived next door to the property.

we contacted Sykes again upon returning home to ask about compensation, but the owners declined any compensation to us, I?m extremely disappointed with the accommodation and final outcome.

We would not recommend this property or Sykes .

Dirty flat , left early to go home. Unclean fridge , dirt on glass shelves, had to clean before putting food away . Dust and dead fly behind microwave . Pots put away dirty from previous guests . Plugs in both sinks full of hair and grime , needed to soak overnight in bleach . Part of bath untiled . Wires hanging out behind tv. Small courtyard with filthy artificial grass, not cleaned and dustbin in the corner. Frying pans unusable with burnt on grime , had to go out and purchase a new one . Tv purely a screen need to take own device to watch anything. Main bedroom is only a double check listing . Single beds uncomfortable with cheap mattresses and bases. Window frames and patio doors were dirty and needed washing down. Washing machine smelly and found washed broccoli and black sludge in seal . Large step in accommodation down to bedrooms , exceeds legal height .

Parking an issue at times asked to move car to accommodate a burger van they organise in said space. No welcome goodies, like other places , only a bottle of milk.

Only decent thing about accommodation is the excellent location. With a bit of hard work , money spent on it and effort this could be a little gem.

Great central location in Bude town centre with easy access to restaurants, pubs and pasty shops. Summerleaze beach is a 5 minute walk.

The accommodation is spacious, well equipped and spotless.
