Description of the self catering
The Captains House holiday cottage in Downderry offers stunning views from it's elevated position above the beach. The Captains House in Downderry sleeps 8 people in 4 bedrooms, very well equipped, moder and with fantastic views from many rooms and the terrace, great for 8 people! The Captains House is set above the village road in Downderry, with fabulous sea views from most windows, a solidly built, Victorian, mid-terrace former captains house. From the road, 6 steps up to paved sun terrace (table/chairs) and verandah. Inside, generously proportioned and renovated in traditional style with polished wood floors and muted colours: all very welcoming.
The Captains House is taller than it is wide and spread over four floors, with the living room on the third floor to take full advantage of the tremendous sea views. Hall, off which dining room (piano) with French windows to verandah and terrace. Hand-built kitchen (microwave, fridge-freezer, range-style cooker); scullery/utility room (dishwasher, washing machine, second fridge) with shower-room (suite) and plenty of space for sandy buckets, wetsuits and boots. Stairs up to three bedrooms including a double bedroom, a twin, and a room with 3 bunks; bathroom (suite with separate shower).
Further stairs up to large living room with open fire, TV/DVD and views. Snug with second TV/DVD and stairs to the third floor, and a large double bedroom ( under the eaves with the best views of all from a dormer window and en suite shower-room (suite). The Captains House is a fantastic self catering holiday home in Downderry with great views and ideally located for the beach, great for a traditional West Country family holiday.

| Cottage Review:
Welcoming family home. Nice house and all that you need for a nice family break. Kept my Yorkshire busy up and down the stairs We had no problems with parking outside the house x 2 vehicles Beach is a short walk away. Places to eat in the area The Blue Plate and worth a trip to Seaton to the Wave Bar. Only negative would be the patio area needs some attention I.e weeding etc we also couldn't use barbecue as it hadn't been cleaned. |

We have recently returned from a relaxing holiday at this excellent family home. Set over several floors in has everything you could want, from quirky old furniture to modern kitchen appliances. The house has great sea views. The lounge is on the third floor to make the most of the views. The down side to the house is all the stairs. It would not be suitable for people who have problems with stairs. Also there is very limited parking outside the property and the road is marrow.
