Description of the self catering property
Nestled on a hillside just outside Catton near Allendale Stoney Law is a detached stone house. It has recently been completely renovated to an excellent standard with all modern conveniences yet retaining charm and character. There are wonderful views out of almost every window across open fields to the rear and the Allen Valley to the front. The sheltered cottage garden is ideal for relaxing or perhaps having a barbecue. It is safe for children and pets to play and the perfect habitat for observing some amazing wildlife. This area is known as "England's Last Wilderness", has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is a delight for walkers, birdwatchers, cyclists. There are Heritage Centres at nearby Allenheads, Nenthead and the Killhope Wheel, a centrepiece of a heritage museum based on lead mining. Weardale and the Lake District can be reached in 45 minutes and Hadrian's Wall with some of the best preserved sections of the Wall is 25 minutes. There are a host of walks and trails of differing lengths nearby some starting at the front door or along the banks of the river Allen to Plankey Mill. The C2C cycle way between Whitehaven and Sunderland passes within 2 miles. Hexham is 10 Miles, with its mediaeval abbey, shops, restaurants and Wentworth leisure centre.Best Features
Ground floor - Spacious sitting room with wood burner set in a stone fireplace and dining table. Light and airy lounge with laminate floor and to the side a cosy nook which children will love as a den or an area to read quietly. Kitchen with gas Rayburn cooker, all modern conveniences and a tiled floor. Utility room with small sink, WC and washing machine. Conservatory to the front.
First floor - Bright and airy double bedroom with en-suite shower room (no WC). Family room with double bed and good size z-bed. Two single bedrooms. Bathroom with bath, large separate shower. Separate WC. Almost every window in the house has uninterrupted views.
