| Cottage Review:
Would never book with Sykes Holiday Cottages @ Samhchair lodge again and would not recommend to anyone as we were made to feel so uncomfortable for the short time we stayed.. We were accused of damage on their sofa which we never did? This was to be a relaxing break but clearly the owners did not what us there? We were all looking forward to a week away in August in the Lake District. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel uncomfortable as the owners of the lodge were staying on site swell and were constantly spying on us. We were told we could have visitors until a certain time and then we were accused of breaking the rules. This continued for the first 24hours until we were asked to leave the property at 9pm on our second night. We live 4.5 hours away from the Lake District so we refused to leave until the morning (even though we done nothing wrong). Our holiday was spoilt at this point and we felt so uncomfortable and like our privacy was invaded. We were expecting some of our money back as we only stayed for 1.5 days but the owners were contesting this. A few days later we were then charged an extra £185 for damage to the sofa. Luckily enough we had taken a photo of this sofa when we got there and you can see that the mark was already there when we arrived. Sykes cottages were so unhelpful and clearly are only working for the owners and have no interest in helping their paying customers. To get our money back we had to go through the bank and this has only just been resolved 5 months later. The lodge we stayed in was Samhchair Lodge and I would not recommend staying there or booking with Sykes cottages at all. |
