Rivendell, 44 High Street, Ringstead, Kings Lynn, Norfolk, PE36 5JU

Description of the self catering

Rivendell is built in the traditional Norfolk style with a pan-tiled roof, flint facing and semi-dormer windows, It has been recently updated to include double-glazed windows and a modern bathroom suit. It is well-decorated and furnished in a cottage style. It is an ideal base for family holidays, with numerous fine sandy beaches within 10 minutes’ drive. It also makes an ideal base for those interested in walking, cycling, bird watching or golf. It has an open fireplace with night storage heaters for the colder months. It is situated in the centre of the popular village of Ringstead, close to the village store and antiques centre, with the local inn – The Gin Trap within walking distance.

Best Features

Rivendell is ideally placed for exploring North West Norfolk. Ringstead is situated in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, about 4 miles inland from Hunstanton; a traditional seaside resort, famous for its sunsets across the Wash and for kite and wind surfing. Nearby are the quieter sandy beaches of Brancaster and Holme-next-the-Sea. Further afield is the famous beach at Holkham, used as a setting for the film Shakespeare in Love.

Children will enjoy the playground next to the church, with swings, slides and roundabout.

The village is on the path of Peddars’ Way, an ancient route stretching from Thetford to the North Norfolk coast and so it is an ideal base for walking or cycling with undulating terrain and numerous pretty villages to visit.

Ringstead Downs is an area of chalky grasslands famous for its wild flowers in the spring and early summer.

The area is also well known for bird watching with local reserves at Snettisham and Tichwell Marsh (both RSPB) and the National Trust reserve at Brancaster Staithe.

For golfers there are picturesque local courses at Brancaster, Old Hunstanton and Heacham.

Fishing is also well catered for with numerous venues for coarse fishing, sea fishing from the beaches or boat, and trout fishing available on the rivers Nar and Wensum.

Within 15 minutes journey time is the Sandringham royal estate, while a little further away are the old market towns of King’s Lynn and Fakenham, with a wider selection of shops, supermarkets and entertainment.

Very comfortable and clean. Really good value for money. Plenty of hot water and heating. Brilliantly located for many different activities. Also ideal being in a village as local shop opposite and pub just along the road. Very quiet. Plenty of parking.
