Port Cottage, Boase Street, Newlyn, Cornwall inc Scilly,

Description of the cottage holiday

Port Cottage is a charming grade II listed fisherman's cottage situated in the heart of Newlyn in the Penwith Peninsula. A vibrant and evocative visitor destination rich in its seafaring traditions, it is worth rising at dawn to watch the fishing vessels of all sizes and colours unload their catch and visit the bustling fish market to purchase the freshest sea food for a delicious supper. Newlyn is also renowned for pioneering the Cornish art scene which remains strong to the present day with numerous galleries, a museum and craft shops adorned with works from local and international artists and sculptors. Walkers can explore the beautiful coastline of Mount's Bay, eastbound to the nearby ancient market town of Penzance and westbound to the charismatic fishing village of Mousehole discovering old inns and restaurants for refreshment en-route. The beaches at Pedn Vounder and Porthcurno, which rank among Cornwall's finest for their soft white sand and azure blue seascape are just a 10 minute drive and the coastal town of Marazion, the gateway to the medieval castle topped island of St Michael's Mount, is 5 miles away. Port Cottage is nestled along an almost traffic-free, narrow street amid white washed and stone faced granite cottages. Comfortably furnished, it exhibits many character features including a Rayburn in the kitchen, beamed ceilings and exposed granite walls. The glow of the gas flame stove in the sitting room provides a cosy atmosphere to return to after invigorating coastal walks along windswept shores and there are two attractive bedrooms and a shower room (accessed via the double bedroom) on the first floor.

Cottage Review:

Excellent cottage, excellent service, excellent memories!

I recently enjoyed a romantic getaway with my girlfriend at Port Cottage. We were deeply impressed with the cottage, which was fully kitted out. The kitchen was a charm and lots of fun to cook in (with the Rayburn) and the heating more than sufficient (we even turned it down at times). The location was really quaint...just as we had imagined an ideal cottage to be. We found the local fish shops provided the tastiest fish we had had in a long time.

I will definitely do business with Cornish Cottage Holidays again. They were professional and convenient. All in all a week that I will always treasure
