Description of the holiday cottage
Northfields House is an exceptionally fine country house, set in just over five acres of grounds. There are few houses which provide such spacious accommodation with large rooms, splendid stone fireplaces, oak floors and other period features whilst at the same time retaining the warm, cosy atmosphere of a family home. The house is available for self-catering although, if required, the owners can offer a fully catered service (please ask for menu) with an excellent chef and friendly staff. They also specialise in helping to organise corporate events, combining full professionalism with relaxed informality. The grounds consist of well-tended lawns (ideal for croquet), mown paths through the natural wooded area and some magnificent mature trees. There are two grass tennis courts, two BBQ/terrace areas with seating for twelve each, an outdoor heated pool, table tennis and a squash court attached to the house with a viewing gallery from the upstairs landing. Northfields has been in the same family for nearly half a century and the house and gardens are a reflection of that family’s sympathetic conservation of an original Edwardian country house. There are 13 bedrooms, which sleep up to 26 people. All the principal rooms face south and overlook a garden which has been extensively landscaped. The house is extremely well kitted out in every respect down to the smallest detail. You will immediately feel at home upon arrival.Best Features

| Cottage Review:
I am from a large family and we wanted to celebrate my mother' 90th Birthday in a really lovely environment. My sister chose the venue and it certainly was a fabulous decision. Although very large, it was still warm and homely, and the variety of and size of rooms were all comfortably furnished and this made you feel like you were sharing someones home for the weekend, you felt really special. We were blessed with good weather and although very cold outside it was always cosy and warm inside, with the log fire adding to the general ambiance.As we stayed in February we didn't use the outside pool but made good use of the squash court and I enjoyed playing the two grand pianos. We had around 30in our party and there was ample room for us to all be accommodated around the huge and long dining table . A well equipped kitchen was available as were the caterers who prepared and cooked the celebratory meal which was served by polite , friendly and efficient waitresses. All in all our extra special event was made really memorable by this lovely venue and we even went to the Fontwell races a short distance away |
