Description of the holiday cottage
North Lodge is a quaint stone built lodge standing in a 1/3 of an acre cottage garden with picturesque walks from the front door. The original part of the lodge was built in the late 1800s and was a former lodge house to Close House Estate. It is directly on the path of Hadrian’s Wall and the site of the Hadrian’s Wall Vallum, the ditch where most artefacts are discovered. With this in mind it is highly likely that the lodge was built using stone from Hadrian’s Wall itself.Best Features
Accommodation all on one level Spacious lounge with open fire set in stone fireplace and door out to the pretty cottage garden. One step down to well equipped breakfasting kitchen. Double bedroom. Twin bedded room. Bathroom with over bath shower and WC. Glazed entrance porch. Great location for Hadrian's Wall with easy access to Hexham and Newcastle upon Tyne
Close to all the Roman Forts along the Wall
Short walk to 2 village pubs serving food
