| Cottage Review:
This was one of several cottages in a former coach house. We chose this location bc it was on the first floor and had a shower. There were several problems (shower not draining, toilet seat broken, no mat for the shower) that Lisa was able to resolve. The biggest problem was that my husband could not fit through the shower door and you could not regulate the hot/cold in the shower; you either froze or were scalded. (Sykes/Character Cottages said they "can't do anything about that".) The solution by the office for my husband showering was to send him to other vacant cottages in the area (16 mile radius)! Several days there was no place for him to shower. He did use a different unit in the coach house and he found it had half the humidity we had in our unit. The delay of showering (office opened at 9am) caused us to get late starts and miss many things we wanted to see. The description of a step up for the bedroom was misrepresented; it is a large step up, difficult for seniors with limitations. The bed is not US king, but US queen. There was a washer but no dryer (as I was told prior to booking). Nothing dried because of the high humidity (as opposed to the other unit). It is a noisy spot with the cafe and village store literally a few steps away. We would not recommend this cottage. The only redeeming quality is that is is literally on the grounds of the Church the tv series "Fr. Brown" films. |
