Cottage Review:

I am always a little wary about paying to stay in a hotel/holiday accomm,I have 13 yrs experience in the hospitality industry from holidays parks to private yachts so as you can imagine my standards are quite high. I dont mind paying if the standards are met but I get very annoyed if Ive paid a decent amount of money and my own home is nicer and more comfortable than the holiday accomm, after all it is meant to be a break away.

So I was pleasntly suprised to find a lovely very large comfortable bed with good quality bedding, a comfy sofa for us to snuggle up on in front of the wood burning stove and lovely soft big white fluffy towels waiting for me when I got out of the big confortable bath.

Our hosts were accommodating and we particularly loved the yummy chocolate brownies waiting for us on our arrival.

We hired bikes locally and explored Redruth and Portrearh and on our second day we drove to Sennen and walked to Lands End, stopping off in beautiful St.Ives on the way back.

Couple of points;

1. Dont bother with the Golden Lion, its overpriced and very average.

2. Might be a good idea to put the back up immersion heater on as after one bath we\'d ran out of hot water so my partner was unable to have a shower.

Well done Jenny and Simon, overall no complaints at all and would recommend to friends and definately come back.

Owner response:
Hi Carries
Thank you for your review. Regarding the hot water there is a booster switch which you can as a guest boost yourself to get more. It was placed upstairs in the bedroom next to the water tank. If only you'd mentioned it when you were here we could have resolved that one really quickly. Glad you enjoyed the rest of your stay with us. Rosie and Simon.

The cottage we stayed in was beautifully designed and maintanied. I can only describe this as a 5* luxury place to stay.

The cottages allow you the freedom to come and spend time relaxing or use it as a base to explore Cornwall.

The welcome by the owners is very good and the additional touches of local produce and homemade cakes is a wonderful accompliment.

If you are lookng for a place to stay in Cornwall you would be hard pushed to find anything offering the comfort and welcome you receive from Staying at Little White Alice.

This being our 2nd visit to Little White Alice, 3wks the 1st time, now 2wks over Christmas period we would highly recommend a stay here. Rosie runs crafts on site for both adults and children. There are also ponies, chickens and sheep for the children to see and feed. A natural swimming pool and hot tub for everyone to enjoy. Walks for all standards from your cottage or within a short drive. The cottages are very well appointed, environmentally friendly, with all conveniences for a totally enjoyable stay.

Having spent two family holidays at Little White Alice so far, once during summer and once during winter, I can definitely recommend a stay there. We have always received a very warm welcome and love the well equipped and quite spacious cottage. Our dogs were also welcome and found the horses, sheep and chickens quite exciting.

In summer, we enjoyed the natural outdoor swimming pool and made many trips to nearby towns, gardens and the beach - there was plenty to do and explore.

On days that were too hot we did some willow weaving at the studio and are still very proud of the resulting baskets.

In winter the time was mostly spend at the cottage, in front of the lovely fireplace, watching DVDs, reading or knitting. Also, there are many opportunities for long walks, such as the nearby Stithians Lake.

Altogether, we have spent two very nice and relaxing holidays at Little White Alice and also really appreciate Rosie and Simon’s efforts to make the place as environmental friendly as possible.

Little White Alice is a gem in the Cornish countryside. Ideally situated for those wishing to visit the popular resorts on both the north and south coasts, it is also ideally suited to doing absolutely nothing other than enjoying being at Little White Alice. Books, maps, cd’s/dvd’s, tourist information and regional magazines are all available for the use of guests. Grab one or more of the aforementioned and light the wonderful wood burning stove and relax- we did.

Rosie and Simon are rightly proud of the green credentials of Little White Alice. They have recently won awards in recognition of these. Rosie arranges craft workshops as desired by guests.

The wood burning spa was not tested by us- but perhaps next time. The natural pool was tried by me; even in July it was “refreshing”.

Our first holiday there saw us extend our stay twice, totaling three+ weeks rather than two; it’s that sort of place. Two weeks over a wild Christmas/New Year was easily seen out.

We’ll be back.

Cottage Review:

My sister had a wedding here and we all stayed for the week. Coming from the busy smog of London 'Little White Alice' was the tranquil tonic that me and my wife needed. The location is stunning. The Cottages all modern but Characterful, clean with a suprisingly good selection of films, cosy log fires. The Natural pool, although freezing (with it being mid November)was a great hang over remedy before jumping into the hot tub.

I was sad to leave - especially ‘Marley the dog’ who took me and my two nephews out for walks every day.

I highly recommend Little white Alice as holiday away.

Make up of party:  Families, relatives and friends took over the entire complex for a week long wedding related break.

We rented all the cottages and the Oak House in November 2013 for a family celebration so have first hand experience of the larger Oak House and all the cottages!

All are well equipped, have been fitted out beautifully and are nicely furnished, but each with its own character.

On arrival, each cottage was perfectly clean and had a little welcome pack of milk, bread, Little White Alice eggs and some other goodies. Very welcome!

The Oak House is a stunning building with lovely living areas but all the other cottages are beautifully put together.

The children in our party enjoyed helping to feed the animals and we enjoyed Bonnie (the most friendly cat you'll come across) who will come and spend some time with you if you want her to (or not if you don't...)

Nice to have end of holiday cleaning included too, so you don't have to spend your final morning with marigolds on, but washing up liquid, dish washer tables and cleaning materials are there so you won't need to bring that sort of thing with you.

Bathrooms had very nice eco-friendly shower gel.

Some of our party braved the "pool", but as it was November, the hot tub was more of an attraction. Not entirely straightfoward to get the perfect temperature but the tub and fire pit and fun places to be even in November.

All in all, the owners have created a welcoming and enjoyable place to stay with accommodation of a very high standard and with great facilities. You're not right on the coast but the countryside makes up for it. I would recommend Little White Alice to others (and already have) and everyone that stayed there really enjoyed the trip and thought the accommodation was great.

We will definitely be heading back to Little White Alice in the future!

A really amazing place to stay. Very welcoming and extremely comfortable. The tranquil surroundings are really calming for the soul. Lots of attention given to children with animal feeding times and craft activities in the barn.

We can't wait to return and try that swimming pool out in the warmer weather this time!

We used Alder cottage as a base for exploring and loved coming home to the cottage each evening for a swim in the natural pool and a barbecue on our patio. The accommodation is very comfortable and well equipped with a comfortable bed and great walk-in shower. We had a lovely welcome from Rosie and Simon and joined in with a willow-weaving morning, and a paella evening to which everyone was invited. There is a great mix here of privacy and conviviality. We enjoyed good summer weather, but think the cottages would also be cosy and inviting in winter.

Beautifully presented, well equipped and somewhere that you can feel at home instantly. The peaceful location is ideally situated for both the north and south coasts with plenty to do locally. Simon and Rosie provide a warm welcome and the various animals give hours of entertainment. Eco-friendly and sympathetically renovated. A wonderful place to stay

As a family of three we stayed in the Birch, two bed cottage, well thought out layout with everything that you would need for a self catering cottage holiday, we were greeted by the owners upon our arrival and received a quick \'show round\' and left to settle in with a welcome tray provided. We had a lovely week exploring the cornish countryside as Little White Alice is centrally based. We even did some tile mosaic at the craft class, a first for me. We were impressed with the attempts made by the owners to be on hand without being obtrusive, and would gladly offer suggestions for a hideaway place to visit

We loved Little White Alice - all three of us - me, my husband and Doug the dog. From the warmest greeting on arrival (which included a drink at the local pub and a hamper with LWA's very own honey) we were set for a fantastic stay. We lost ourselves in walks around the countryside and chats with the animals; visits to the wood burning hot tub; daring each other to swim in the natural pool (we didn't take the dare in March!); eating and drinking at near by pubs; sleeping and breathing in the tranquillity... We cant rate it highly enough. All that with the feel good factor of an eco cottage and owners who really care about their impact on the local environment and planet as a whole. We had an amazing stay and cant wait to go back. Many thanks and much love to Rosie and Simon.
